In this thread I will try with your help to figure out a list of requirements for making Sims2 with possible expansion online compatible. I'll start with a list and everyone can add points to it or discuss existing points. The aim of that thread is, to create a concept that Maxis will find worth implementing.

After the requirements specifications we will try to develop ideas how to implement those restrictions and additional must-haves.

FOR EASIER READING: structure your text like this:

So every help is welcome.

My first requirements:

-limit max users and max NPCs on a lot
->depending on performance of a server
-visiting a lot from another user
->only possible when user is online
->community lots allways possible
->OFB lots possible when not assigned to a user
-distinguish between different available addons
->if a user misses an addon he cannot join the special neighborhood
->every neighborhood has to be marked: which addons are needed
-at start of game user has to choose whether to go online or not
->either the normal game is started
->or the online part with restrictions and addons
-user can import sims/pets/lots etc into online communities/neighborhoods
->didnt figure out yet what to think of
-handling action conflicts
->the user that reserved an object for interaction first
->
-real-time handling
->
-cheat possibilities
->limit some cheats that would allow conflicts/inconsistency
-mod/hack possibilities
->disallow hacks?
->how to check if a hack jeopardizes consistency
->for example the "control a sim" hack
-custom content
->

So for now this is my first list, I dont have the time now, have to go to my course. I'll add some more when I come home today.

Sorry but without changing the game executable this is not going to be possible, and as we do not have the source code, it's never going to be possible.

Also as this forum (and site) are for modding the Sims 2, and not for anything else, I'm locking this.
