View Full Version : Multiple subsets with the same name??

I've seen this before in Maxis objects, where there will be two subsets in a GMDC with the same name. Is there any extra coding that goes into doing this? I mean, will both subsets automatically be affected by the same TXMT, MATD, etc. entries?
I'm asking because I'm making an object and I want to know if I can retain the animations by giving two subsets the same name, but assigning just ONE of the subsets to a joint in SimPE.
Is this a workable strategy?

For TXMTs - yes, as far as I've seen, both subsets are affected.
For joints - most likely no, because joint assignments may be different for vertices within a subset, while materials are applied to whole subset. So vertices from another subset would likely get assigned to some random joint automatically, if you'd leave them without assignments.
On the other hand, as far as I remember, you were using Max. Do you have problems with assigning weights in it? Unless it's something too complex like bedding :) it should be easy.

No, I'm just lazy :P . I'm not as comfortable working with animations in Max as I'd like to be just yet, so I thought this might save me some trouble :|
