View Full Version : Meshing a refrigerator

I am trying to mesh a new fridge complete with animations. I have done the armoire tut and gotten my animations to work on the armoire and the fridge is no different. However, my fridge has parts of the insides sticking out over its top and it does not look right.
I exported the fridge the same way I learned to export the armoire...so that it pops up in Milkshape on its back. I only exported the fridge exterior but for some reason the interior portion came along as well. I am trying to think what other information might be helpful in figuring out what is going wrong.
Anyway, any help with the fridge would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Pictures or the file itself would be helpful in determining what's the problem :). Is your mesh a different size/shape than the original and that causes the contents to pop through?

Actually this isn't my mesh...I'm helping a friend with the animations...or at least trying to...lol!
I looked at it again in Milkshape and you have struck the exact problem...this new fridge mesh is somewhat shorter although the same shape. If I import the fridge content into Milkshape I can see that it does stick out through the top just as it does in my SimPe preview. So is there a solution for that? Is it possible to reshape the content while not losing the overall generall look of the fridge interior?

I've never worked on a fridge personally, but my guess is you can reshape the mesh for the contents to fit the new shape.

Thanks so much...I'm going to give it a shot. I'll let you know how it turns out :)

Fridges are a pain the backside, the problem I find is that you need to make exactly the same number of parts of the same type that are in the original meshes and their individual sub-groups to avoid retaining bits that are the wrong size/shape. From memory (i.e. could be slightly wrong!), there are 9 different key meshes in a fridge, the main body of the fridge, its 2 doors, there's also the base pedestal it sits on, inside there are I think a set of shelves and a set of food contents plus a further 2 subgroups of food contents which sit in the doors. I may be wrong about the shelves and there are 3 parts to those as well, 2 for the doors, one for the middle.
