Ok, hopefully this story will last long enough! It contains human characters, of course, and isn't as drastic as my last stories... lol...
---------
Alyssa's POV ("Aly")
---------
I looked Isabelle straight in the eye, and she squinted at me, too. This was one silent, intense moment; I could feel her anger towards me.
"What?"
Okay, make that my own anger.
Isabelle wasn't actually looking at me; I was just staring at the back of her brunette head. Instantly I thought, What a fudgeball she is.
You know, people say I'm too obsessed with Isabelle. You do this, you say that! YADDA YADDA YADDA. Shut up, people! Can't you see I'm NOT obsessed? An obsession is only when you like something, right? Therefore, I simply dislike her. I can't say I hate her; I'm TOTALLY not THAT type.
One month later
I sat on the edge of the huge, round and stone fountain in Rose Plaza Park. It was nighttime, and I could see a bunch of stars. That was the only source of light, since barely any close-by street lights were turned on. I stared up at the night sky, looking at all of the stars. I wasn't really focusing on them; I was thinking of something else more... important.
Everything was quiet until a loud, deep sound startled me. Suddenly I felt my palms being grazed by cold stone and I slipped back. Out of instinct, I screamed a sharp, high-pitched and girly shriek.
I felt water pounding on my ears; Whatever I was on (or in,) seemed like a cloud... but my clothes were getting tighter. I couldn't breathe; and I was shocked.
The water in the fountain was freezing cold; so cold, I couldn't move that much. I felt something was coming for me, and I embraced myself; death, possibly. In a fountain? That sounded quite ironic.
A sharp, painful tug ripped at my right arm; and my arm became more cold than the icy water itself. I tried to scream, but nothing came out and water rushed in my nostrils, clogging them and leaving no air. I tried to use my other arm, the left one, to push myself up and out of the fountain.
I had no strength.
It was probably the cold; Oh, why did this have to happen?! What if someone saw me?
I knew I had to get out of there, though, or else I'd look stupid to anyone passing by, or even drown! I'd still look like a fool, though, when the newspapers and television news report the drowning of a 16-year old girl, who fell in a shallow fountain at nighttime, by herself....
I heard a loud splash and my hair was sticking to my face. I was gasping for air, but this time I was actually getting my air! My legs were still wobbly and in the water, shaking, but a soft and very warm blanket was wounded around my torso. I felt like I was being forced out of the fountain; which was, of course, what I wanted. By the time I was completely out, I realized it wasn't a blanket on me; it was a sweater.
Shoot, did someone save me?!
My cheeks flushed with red and I looked to my right.
Aww, crud, it's a GUY who saved me!
I saw a cute guy who seemed around my age. Suddenly everything struck back at me: This was my crush, Josh! I spun to face him and tried smiling, but was unsuccessful.
"You threw quite a show there!"
"Yeah, want an encore?" I joked, and he just smiled at me. He looked rather serious.
"I like to come to the park at night. I haven't seen you around, but I just started that pattern this week. Do you come here when it's dark?"
"Yeah... It helps me to relax."
Josh gave me a curious look.
"Stress," I added in, and he nodded.
His dark brown eyes started pulling me in; should I be surprised, or was he doing this on purpose? He was looking right in my own eyes! I felt fulfilled.
"Where do you live?"
"Shut up and stop asking me stuff that doesn't matter."
I imagined those scenes in the movies, where this couple suddenly gets love at not-first sight and kiss each other instantly. I hoped that would happen right here, right now, with Josh. I almost puckered my lips. Josh appeared like he was flirting; maybe I should do the same back?
I winked at him and then said in a charming voice, "Thank you for sav-uh, um, I mea-ugh. Nev- Okay, well, thanks for pulling me outta there, Josh."
"No problem."
"I think I should go home now."
As I walked forward to go up the hill behind Josh, I brushed intentionally against his right arm; that was flirting.
"Um, Aly.... -ssa?"
I stopped and, much to my surprise, rolled my eyes. I turned around to face him again.
"Do you have time to chat... or maybe some other time?"
I brightened up and stood tall and boldly.
"Sure!"
As I sat down criss-cross on the grass, I eyed nervously the edge of the fountain.
So not going back there again!
Josh looked me in the eye (again), and asked if I had finished my English paper yet. I replied that I was working on it.
"You haven't started, though, right?"
My eyebrows lifted with interest. "No..."
"Can we... be partners for it?"
"Yeah, totally!" I felt foolish, but I was happy, anyway, so forget that.
"Tomorrow, 5 o'clock pm?" He suggested. I nodded, flattered. He smiled and left me there.
It felt weird.
