View Full Version : Floor Elevation cheat won't work?

I have been trying to follow some of the tutorials on building half walls, or making swimmable lakes, all of which require the use of the constrainfloorelevation cheat, I enter the cheat and nothing happens, no matter what I do. I have entered it both in the lots and in the neighborhood screen and it still will not work. I was working on making a house with an useable attic and was following Plasticbox's tutorial for it here on the site, but when I get to the part where you level it from the two story foundation on the hill it will not do it.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
I have all the EP's and some for the stuff packs installed.

Yes boolprop contrainfloorelevation false. Tried it in the lot, outside the lot in the neighborhood, since I have to do that with testingcheatsenabled before it will work in the lot. Nothing works
I would really like to figure this out because nearly all the best building tricks I have found require it's use.

... boolprop contrainfloorelevation false...
That turns it off. You need to use true to turn it on. Then you can warp walls and such.

I find, when trying to change the elevation of a certain floor (2nd, 3rd, ect...) after the home is built, I have to start at the ground floor and work my way up.
Use the boolprop ConstrainFloorElevation false (must have the capital letter right as well!!..exactly as it is typed) when you are on the lot..not in the neighborhood.
REMEMBER that as you are sloping the floors, all the floor above the floor you are adjusting will move up with it. If you slope the top floors any bottom floors will remain in tact.
Hope that makes sense. good luck.
I think your main prob is how you are entering the cheat....the letters must go EXACTLY as follows...
boolprop ConstrainFloorElevation false (to turn on the cheat)
boolprop ConstrainFloorElevation true (to turn off the cheat).

That turns it off. You need to use true to turn it on. Then you can warp walls and such. This isn't correct. True means that the game constrains the elevation; ie, it won't allow the elevation to change. False means that the game doesn't constrain the elevation; ie, it allows the elevation to change.

 I should know by now not to type before coffee. Mootilda is correct.
And some people do need to use the capitalization as motheranne listed.

Not sure why but when I turned the game back on to try again it works, and I did the -exact- same thing I had before. Go figure, my luck it will decide not to work the next time just to spite me.

I for some reason I can only get it to work without "bool prop" and it only works every once in a while. I don't know why this is for my game.
Oh wait...I just realize something when I went back in game I put the cheats in while not being in build mode...Could this be a reason as to why it works on just a sometimes basis? Just curious..and I still did not use the words "boolProp" and it still worked any reason that maybe so for my game? :| :sheep:

Do you have a Userstartup.cheat (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Userstartup.cheat) installed?

I sometimes find it useful to expand the cheatbox and go to the bottom. You will find any messages about errors there. You can close it by using expand again, or just esc I think. I might confuse sims2 and 3 a bit when it comes to command. Hope I got it right now.
