Is it possible to clone a tree to make it a NH object?

I wanted to clone the dead tree from ambitions, and then make it a NH object that was compatible with BG and WA. I'm struggling to find any textures for trees in the game, and I heard somewhere it wasn't possible to clone them and make new ones, is this the case?

Outdoor plants cannot be cloned. But the dead trees are already placeable in edit town mode. There is one dead tree from base game plus the ones from Ambitions.
