I was following the instructions by HP in this thread: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=266714&c=1&ht=&page=1&pp=25#startcomment
I was looking for the adult female racer (Which came with the base game) .TXTR package using the finder tool and didnt come up with anything. I manually searched through the Sims07 folder and still didnt find anything. I found the male version, plus some other files of the female racer, (like TXMT) but not the ones I needed. I also could not find any of the generic adult female t-shirts (such as the one with the angry looking monkey on it) when I searched for them. Other clothing items have the .TXTR packages, only some are missing. I have the latest edition of SimPE and DDS Utilities. I cannot find any help on this issue in any other forums and Im not exactly a computer genius. HELP!!!
Thanks! :)

I just took a look at the txmt, and the adult female and male are actually sharing the same texture. The same is true of the tops you're looking for, if I'm thinking of the right ones. The teens and adults actually share the textures for those, so they are called "uftopshirt" instead of "aftopshirt" though the adults and teens have their own meshes and txmts, so you're finding those just not the textures when you search.

If you have a look at the txmt in plugin view, one of the lines should be StdMatBaseTextureName:xxxxxx". If you search for the texture name from the txmt of a Maxis texture, you should find the textures you want :) I hope that made sense.

I had a feeling it was something simple like that! Thanks so much! :)

Clarification: Does this mean I have to use the same texture for the default replacements for both males AND females? Or for adults and teens for the tshirts?

You can replace both, which is good for space saving, but you don't have to use the same texture if you don't want, you just need to replace the txmts instead of the txtr files. I was about to try to explain the process, when I remembered there is a great tutorial with pictures that does it way better than I could.

Here it is: http://le-plat-du-jour.livejournal.com/22703.html#cutid1 . The first part talks about mesh replacement and replacing textures the way you already know. if you scroll down to the bottom where she goes through replacing the teen girl pjs, you'll find info on how to do what you want and replace only one age/gender.
