Blargh. I am working on a new hair for a sim Im making, and then this happens right off the bat.

Ive tried everything, Smooth All, Align Normals, etc. but all those options screw up what I actually want to keep. Its just the strands that are being stupid. :faceslap:

As you can see below, I CAN fix them, it just effs up the rest of the hair, and I really dont want to have to cut all those little vertices off the hair and remerge them together. Is there anyway to just do it without messing up anything? :wtf:

why not regroup the problem part, delete the rest of the hair and export it as a new meshfile after fixing it.
Then import the full hair file again, delete the problem part and import the fixed meshfile.
Regroup all together into one.

Another option might be to turn on autosmooth and mirror the hair one time and back.

Thats what I thought might work Bloom. I would have tried it, but the creator merged them all into one part before uploading the mesh, so there is now "pieces" as seperate groups.

and this is what auto-smooth gives me:

then go to left side view and tick hide backfaces, then select the problem part from the left side.
Untick hide backfaces and deselect all other parts exept the problem part(in front view), then alligne the normals.

Repeat the same steps but now from right view.
If you cant figure it out you always can upload the mesh ;)

When I untick Draw Backfaces, everything is fixed.

Doesnt that mean that the creator of the mesh already added backfaces, and therefore there was not ever an issue at all?

the only issue is that those backfaces aren't alligned(normals)
If it looks ok in CAS and ingame i wouldn't worry to much about it.

Okay, thanks Bloom :) Ill continue with it and hope those sorts of issues dont resurface when it gets in game!
