This timeless debate has and will go on for millennia..
So.. Both.
Microsoft has the beauty of being pretty much universal - it's very rare to see a designer NOT create something for the Windows OS [Other than that has a specific purpose for a different OS] and it's very much common for a Windows machine to be... anywhere and everywhere. Because of this, Windows has a greater market for Gaming, customisation, and getting away with things. The Huge amount of people using these machines means Windows has very little power over what they can and can't give the world, because the world demands of it, it's held tightly by it's users.. very tightly.. meaning IT has a very loose hold.
Apple Macintosh, however, can be seen as the opposite. It is a semi-niché market which has grown so much, and has a lot of skills and background expertise behind it. It has successes away from it's main core PC [which - let's be fair - Microsoft failed almost hilariously so at the first times round] and that's inspiration, market and publicity. That means it's used to changing and perfecting itself, the Mac OS is very acute and.. in my experience, with knowledge just "works" for a whole load of people. It's not perfect, but it's much more perfect that Windows ever has been.. and I'm not even talking about viruses. Apple brings out new sparkles and ideas that often revolutionise the game.. but at a downside. The Customisation is highly finite, and because of this, a lot of people just don't design strait-up for the mac.. titles have to be ported or just dropped (The Sims 2's Expansions and Stuff Packs are good examples.)
You pick for what you personally need, simple as that, really. :)

Mac? Windows? Bah. You can get anything done with a Commodore 64.

I never worked on an Apple first hand but I hear it's pretty good... performance wise at least...

I mostly use my computer for essay writing, browsing the internet, and playing games, so I find that PCs are the way to go. Macs are very limited in the game department, though they're just fine in the other two. I also don't like the level of control that Apple exerts over their products. I have heard that they can hobble your computer if they find anything they don't like on your computer. I don't know if this is true or not, but I have often heard that Apple strictly controls the use of their products. When I buy a computer, I want to actually own the computer, not just have the company's permission to use it in certain ways.
Macs are very good if you want to do artsy sorts of things, though. I'm in a garage band with my cousins and one of them has a Mac. We recorded ourselves playing with it and the sound quality was quite amazing compared to other laptop microphones. From what I understand, there are also more visual/audio editing programs available for Macs.

I've only used a Mac once, and it was one of those really old ones from the 90s. I heard that the more recent ones are awesome, though, but I was raised a Microsoft child and will be one until I die. Sorry, Steve.

Well, there's two sides to this.
PCs come in a lot of different styles. Some are designed for gamers, some for writers, and some for people just wanting to browse the internet. They are cheaper, and most kids are taught how to use them in IT lessons. most programmers make their software for PCs, and then redistribute for Mac if they have to.
However, PCs have a bad reputation for the fact that they are complicated. They are vulnerable to viruses and such, and because so many people use them, they are the perfect target for hackers. It's hard to trace the source of a problem, and to solve it. Not forgetting the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death.
Moving on, Macs appear in a more relaxed fashion. Even the older models, such as the PowerBook G4, are EXTREMELY fast. They connect to the internet in an instant, and their Force Quit command is genius. They very rarely crash and are well known for their fantastic safety system.
But, there is a catch. Macs used to be made with a PowerPC processor, but now it's all done by an Intel one. Many companies have dropped PPC suppport, so users of older Macs find it difficult to find programs that their Mac can run. They cannot get a higher operating system than Leopard, and many games (such as the Sims 3) are not supported. Even if your Mac is powered by an Intel processor, your favourite game might not be available for Macs.
Personally, I have an XP Home that's an AMD Athlon and a PowerBook with a PowerPC G4 processor. I find it REALLY annoying that nothing Apple or other companies make is compatible with PowerPC Macs any more. My PC is good and fast, but recently I have been having troubles with wireless connections and the Blue Screen Of Death.

in my experience:
macs are more for artistic programs like Photoshop and not much else.
you can't really say windows because that's just the operating system. but windows computers are more all around computers designed to do everything.

I am in need of a laptop soon and people are telling me to get a Mac because I am an Art major (animation), and they feel Macs are for artists. Well.. I know how to use macs; my classes uses Macs for over a year now, but I just do not like it.
I prefer PC, but I will be given the shame finger from fellow artists xD. I don't know what the major differences between the two is really. I dont get viruses on PC, it plays games better, and I'm more use to it since I was raised with PCs. So I really dont know why Macs are twice as expensive, but they both are able to do the same things, even art wise: photoshop, Adobe Maya, etc

I'm not sure if you're being serious, but those are all new/soon-to-be-released games except for Photoshop which is a graphics program.
As to the debate, you can't really make an unequivocal statement about which is better because it depends on the purpose/situation of the person using the computer. PCs are my personal preference because they are much better suited to gaming, which is what I mainly use my computer for. And I will say that, in my opinion, PCs are a much better value.

Neither. Linux, for the win! (Even though I'm on W7x64 right now...)

Both. But for the Sims games, Microsoft PC because it's harder to find information about what to do with your game, etc, with an Apple Mac and way easier with PCs since a lot more people play Sims on PCs than Macs.

I just bought a Mac for my graphic designs studies. I'll still use my PC for pleasure though. They both are better for their purposes. If you are working in the media communication world you'll do better with a Mac as more and more organizations are using them lately.

to be honest, for gaming, movies, office stuff, i would say windows. For graphics design would be mac and for programming would be linux. I hate mac more then i hate meatloaf. People say mac cant get BSOD or any error. There right its white screen or red screen. No computers perfect, not even that stupid mac. Mac is boring and theres no good games on it really.

I also never heard of "Kinko's" for Photoshop.
Using quotation makes it sound... naughty and potentially illegal. Kinko's is a chain outlet for printing. I don't have a mac because I would need to buy another desk for it.
So I go to Kinko's and pay 30 cents a minute to use their good printers to print my stuff (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=877429&user_id=7002&np&np) on glossy card stock.
