View Full Version : Multi-PTs and Genetics

I am investigating the best way to code the genetics on the alien skins, so if anyone understands that well, please offer advice!

First: I made a multi-PT set & tested it in my game. At the moment, the alien skins & eyes I am using have genetic values other than 0. (Range is 1.2-1.8; "normal" skins range from .07-.99)

This worked as it is supposed to, from as much as I understand about the game's use of genetics: both my half-alien babies got skin tones that were somewhere between the parent's original and the alien's. Unfortunately, that didn't make them look very alien-y.

My intent was to geneticize the skins so that the odds were *high* of getting the alien genes, but to avoid the dominance problem of custom skins taking over forever. Is there actually a way to achieve this by altering the degree of dominance on the alien skins (pushing it closer to 9), or does the game just randomly choose any skintone within the range set by the two parents? (e.g. S1 + alien = S1,2,3,4,alien vs. S4 + alien = one or the other) I know the original alien genes did not work entirely like custom items, as I sometimes got babies that didn't have the hair/eyes, and after a generation they didn't breed the green skin, either.
