Can somebody tell me how to product-register my Sims 2 game on the official website?

The old system doesn't work, and other than the fact that the official Sims 2 BBS is still up, the site seems to be largely unsupported.

There's a relatively new entity within EA called Origin through which you register games now. I know next to nothing about it, but I'm not sure it's even possible to register Sims 2 games anymore.

Question is, why does it matter? If you already have a simpage, you have access to the BBS and the Exchange. Not that that's saying much. There's not much activity at the BBS, and the Exchange hasn't taken new uploads for... couple years? The old stuff is still available for download.
