View Full Version : 80% of the houses and community lots in Pleasantview disappeared...with the families in them!

Today, I opened up The Sims 2 and went to my favorite neighbourhood, Pleasantview. I haven't played in a day or so, and nothing has really changed. I did download two programs (Bonjour and myPointer for school work) on the weekend. When I entered Pleasantview, it literally looked like a bomb went off in the center. Every house except for the Goth house (including the Maxis built houses along the streets) were wiped out. The Dreamer house is gone and the trailer park. I had SO many houses that I had built, and that Maxis had built (that were filled with tons of sims!)
I don't get it? Nothing has really changed since a day ago. A few things to note:

1) I have a Mac Book, which I run my Sims 2 on however I use Boot camp. So I play my Sims 2 games on my PC side of my mac. I've had Boot camp on my Mac since Day 1, and The Sims has been great on it.
2) I have been working on this Pleasantview for a solid 8-10 months, so it had been quite expansive. Lots of Sims, lots of lots.
3) The only custom content material I use is from thesims2.com and this site as well.
4) When I had restarted my game months ago to restart my neighborhoods, all the maxim houses that were available from the base game in the lot bin were gone :( :(
5) Since this happened, I did delete my last known downloaded Custom Content, and I also deleted Bonjour, and myPointer programs.
6) I don't use Insimenator, or SimPE, and I dont have any hacks either. I use boolprop however.

Can someone please help me, this neighborhood was my absolute favorite, and I was very attached to all my Sims!!!

This is my last resort, usually google solves my problems!

Have you ever done any of the things listed on this page? Game Help:Avoiding Hood Corruption

As I understand it, there is also a known limitation on the number of files on the MAC. If you surpass this limit, files will be deleted.

If you have a backup, restore from your backup. That's your best option.

If not, then there may be a way to salvage your sims' appearances and your lots, but I doubt that we can salvage your neighborhood. I would advise that you not run the game again, since it will only make things worse.

Let us know if you don't have a backup and we'll try to walk you through salvaging what you can.

Hmm, isn't that a Mac OS limitation, though? I wouldn't expect Bootcamped Windows to be affected, though it's not impossible.

Thanks guys for replying!

I did check out the page on how to avoid neighbourhood corruption, and I've literally have done all of those (even in my game Samantha Ottomas accidentally died in a fire so her pregnancy didn't come to turn).

And no I haven't backed up in quite awhile...I never think to even do it unfortunately :(

Last night I tried getting my sims back, the sims that are left in the neighbourhood to recognize them as family members/friends and the family tree is still intact. They're all still listed in the phonebook (no address is listed with them unfortunately :( )so what I've been doing is just calling them over, asking them all to move in, and then they move out. This won't cause issues in my game, I hope?

Just sucks because all of the Maxis houses that came with Pleasantview (the huge multistory white house, the red house down the road from the Goths, etc)

Is there a way to tell how many files there can be in my Mac/PC side before it crashes again? I've never heard that the Macs have had that issue before.
