Hey there,
I have the following problem:
Ever since I installed Showtime I cannot install sim3pack files anymore.
Since I use a mac the only way for me to do it is via the launcher. However if I drop a sim3pack in the downloads folder and click install in the launcher OR double click a sim3pack file to install directly the installation window shows up all black and immediately after that my game freezes and I have to force quit.
The items show up in my launcher under downloads but show as uninstalled. It's all creators cc and I have tried many different sim3packs. None work.
This has never been an issue before... :(
My launcher shows Version: 12.0.273 and in my Version.tag is says LatestBase = 1.33.2.015002.
Any suggestions?
Edit: I have deleted all my old sim3pack to start fresh or see if files were corrupted, but it still does not work.
The issue is immedeately resolved by uninstalling showtime. But I don't want that :/

I have the exact same problem, except I have a PC and only have the base game and pets installed. What's strange for my case is that I had a previous install of both games where sims3packs installed fine, but I was forced to uninstall due to computer programs. I tried to load everything back up yesterday and installed everything, then tried to stick in some sims3packs...and the same problem you had appeared. As far as I know I am patched to the most recent patch for pets (10.0.96etc). Package files work fine, but not sims3packs! :( I've looked all over the internet for fixes, but have only found a few problem report threads with nothing definitive for a fix...

Hey xamaris, sorry to hear you have the same problem :(
Today I actually decided to uninstall Showtime (and go back to pets) becuase as said in my first post the problem seemed solved like that.
But after installing 3 or 4 sim3packs the same problem occured and I am again unable to install content... This and your post confirm it's no showtime problem.
Hope somebody might help us soon.
:new: EDIT: Hey, try removing your Mods folder (the one with the packages and the resource file) to your desktop or anywhere else before installing sims3packs. When you're finished, move the Mods folder back to it's original location. This works for me (at least for now). Please try and tell me if it works for you too :) ??

That worked!!!! Thank you so much!!! Also, on a hunch I tried removing JUST the resource.cfg file...and it worked! There must be something wrong with it I guess! But what?

Hey guys, this happened to me, all you have to do is uninstall your mods folder before attempting to even download anything….From the store, or exchange, or any sims3pack. Even though i was getting the black screen when attempting to install sims3pks(before figuring out the problem) and had to forceclose….the packages still installed. so male sure to double check the launcher so you don't have a u ton of duplicates. Also if installing from the store, (and you have moved your mods folder to the desktop) you will be happy to know that they go ahead and install immediately as before. I hope I have helped someone. good luck!

After much more hunting around, I actually managed to ENTIRELY FIX this problem. I used an external updater to update my BASE GAME to 1.33 (the most recent patch I think), and then REINSTALLED Pets...and it all works!! sims3packs install fine, no more "unsupported modifications" message, no need to remove anything from the documents files. I think that what was happening to us was that the base game needed an update and was not getting it for some reason. You might not need to uninstall your expansions to do this, but who knows. You can find an external updater if you google around - I unfortunately closed the page after I got the updater and am unable to find the same source again. I hope this helps anyone with this problem!

Thank you so much for this! I just installed Showtime also and the installer was taking FOREVER to install any sims3packs. I moved the Mods folder out temporarily like suggested and it's working like normal again! Thanks!!

Thank you so much!! Removing the Mods folder temporarily fixed the problem. I think this is something EA has to fix so that we can install the Sims3Pack files without having to move the mods folder. Thanks Again!!!
