Reinstall + copying folders from Program Files?

I'm in the process of reinstalling TS2 onto my new computer, and I was just wondering: I'd been playing with empty neighborhood templates and Radiance Lighting and a few other things that altered the game files in Program Files on my old machine. After installing the games on the new computer, is it possible to then just copy over the game files (TSBin, TSData, etc.) to restore my previous settings, since the installation will have put all of the registry things in the correct places? Or would that not work/just create a mess?

Honestly, getting The Sims back up and running is turning out to be SO MUCH MORE of a production than actually building a PC for the first time! :rolleyes:

You should be able to do that as long as you've patched both versions to the same patch level. You could always make a full backup of the folders before copying over the old ones, just in case it doesn't work. :)
