When I tried to open my game I got a message saying I had installed some unofficial game content and given the option to quit or continue. If I pressed continue it would just crash. So I started going through the Game Help guide. I made sure my computer was strong enough and did the first 2 steps. Nothing worked so I put my CC back in the game (I use CC magic). Then I started step 3 removing user files. When I did that I was able to play but of course all my files were gone. So then I went back in, I now had a "The Sims 3" and a "The Sims 3 Backup" file. It wouldn't let me delete "the Sims 3" so instead I just renamed "the Sims 3 Backup" to "the Sims 3" and they automatically merged. Once again I can not play now. So I started going through files one by one, starting with "saves" as the guide suggested. The problem seemed to be with my "mods" because when I removed it I was able to start the game and my neighborhoods are back. However, they neighborhoods themselves will not load, it will give me a message saying "a serious error has occured it is reccommended that you restart the application" and go back to the main menu. Also, my intro video is back, so I know my mods are no longer working even though I put them back. And that's where I am now.

That "serious error" is usually caused by something being off with the permissions of the TS3 folder, which is backed up by your not being able to delete it earlier. To fix the error, set the TS3 folder and all of its contents to not read-only (rightclick-> Properties), and restart. Make sure you don't have any part of that folder open when you start the game, don't have CC Magic running, and so on.

As far as the CC not working, first step is to put it back in via the normal framework and Mods/Packages folder - it's possible that CC Magic is part of the reason why it's not working, and if that is the case, you'll need to be asking granthes for help, not us. :) So switching temporarily back to Mods/Packages will tell us whether the problem is with CC Magic, or whether it's something we can help with.

I take it you know how to narrow down the file causing the "unofficial game modification" error, since it sounds like you were already working on doing so.

It seems everything is working now and it is CC magic issue so thanks for the help. :)

Never mind its not working again. I kept having to delete my mods folder every time I started the game because it would come back and this time the game crashed as I was trying to load a town, with the mods folder gone. So I have no clue I'm really at a loss right now.
