View Full Version : Does this happen in the future too, or just the past?

I had one of my Sims travel to the past, using the time machine she just invented. One of the dialogue boxes popped up and said something about her saving a child, and someone told her how important children are. Immediately after the box closed, a child (who looked like it could be her and her husband's biological child) was added to the family. Does this only happen in the past, or the future as well?

It should only be happening when traveling to the past. There are several things in the XML on this which are called "Changing the Past", among them the child being added to your family, some strange family being added to your town, a career change for your sim, a ghost and mummy chance of becoming normal sims.

There is nothing about "Changing the Future" with these same chances, it doesn't exist. If one chooses to Woohoo or try for baby in the time machine, it's possible for the child to be conceived in the future, and I think this child then appears in much the same way.

An advise, don't do it. That thing happened to me. I ended up with an elder added to my family as my YA couple's child! It's very odd on the family tree but hey a bit of silliness is funny. Plus you get a free slave, which is always handy.

I seriously understood something completely different from reading the topic. Something way more awesome. Well, life ain't perfect.

I am starting to think my game is possessed. That or about 90% of my Sims are INSANE!

If your sim tries for baby in the past/future sometimes the child appears after the next time they time travel. Maybe that's why a child appeared when your sim time travelled.

Those Sims have never did woo hoo or try for baby in the time machine or at all when this happened.

Yea, they can just be annoying at times.
The funny thing is I have never had a Sim with the Insane trait.

Sims can get a child from past or future. Past children are child-staged and future-children are elders.

Once I used a cheat to make my simbot and a random sim woo-hoo in the time machine. Later, a cyborg (or simborg, lol) stepped out from it. A sim, who walked like a simbot, and behaved like one except she could eat normal simfood.

Sims can get a child from past or future. Past children are child-staged and future-children are elders.

Whenever I have gotten a child from the past it has always joined the household at young adult stage never as a child. Trying for baby in the future has never worked for me
