View Full Version : corrupt patterns *will not* uninstall.

A couple weeks ago I downloaded a house from the exchange (it didn't seem to have any custom content listed or shown in the pictures). Since then my game has been plagued with custom patterns that do not show up in the installed content tab on the launcher, and seems to have deleted the default "misc." pattern. I have tried everything. I uninstalled the sims3pack of the house, I downloaded the dashboard tool to delete the patterns manually, but they will not go away and my "misc." folder continues to not work. Am I missing something? Or are these patterns just completely invasive and will I have to do a whole reinstall of my game?

Good News: You don't need to reinstall the whole game for invasive CC.
Bad News: If they came from a house from the Exchange, they are in your DCCache, even if the launcher doesn't say so. The Exchange only accepts Sims3packs, as far as I know, and has no requirement for actually listing everything that is in them. You are going to need to delete the DCCcache and DCBackup, and then reinstall all of the sims3pack CC that you do want to keep. This will remove the patterns. You might want to backup your saved games and temporarily move your Mods folder out to be sure that the offending patterns weren't downloaded as packages on the same day.

(And now you know why people tend to avoid the Exchange unless they already know that the creator is reliable. Or simply avoid it altogether. ;) )

After a horrific ordeal of not being able to reinstall any sims3 packs and having to uninstall and reinstall each game. The patterns are still there. Only store packs are installed. What other folders could they be hiding in? I used the dashboard and it doesn't see anything else in the DCBackup.
