I just returned all of Enayla's skins and eyes back to my downloads folder! And it got me wondering if she would ever return to the world of Sims :( Her skins and eyes are amazing! I have seen a lot of people reusing her textures and Redistributing edits of her skins, so her gifts are still being loved by all. I just wish she would return and give us something new to "omg" and drool over!!!
Just sayin....

Warning: slipping into nostalgic mode.
There are many such creators I'd wish to see back. I just noticed today that MogHughson is missing :( Hopefully she'll re-emerge one day with another shiny.

I don't know that Enayla would ever come back. AFAIK, I believe she left the Sims community because a lot of people were taking her works and trying to pass them off as their own (or not following her terms of use/redistribution).
I seem to remember she was quite upset (and rightly so). That kind of blatant disrespect isn't easily forgotten OR forgiven.

I think...that more people need to step up and learn how to mesh and become creators, there are a lot of potential out there. We should encourage people to keep the game alive, The Sims continue to exist because of the modding community. If quality creators start disappearing, then the Sims too will most likely start to decay...now we don't want that do we?! I think those who have been downloading since the dawn of time, should start learning how to create...and thus give back to the community...but that is just my thought =P

We were just talking about Enayla my Livesimming last night! I have most of her skins and one set is my defaults. I have not seen any reason to change them in years. Simtopi, in chat, posted the link to her deviant art profile: http://enayla.deviantart.com
We made two Sims that used her skins and they both came out amazing.
But as to people copying her work --- sadly, that is the way of the internet. Any really excellent top-notch creator will be copied (stolen) from without credit. It happens. Once you put something on the internet it really is open for all, and many will pay NO ATTENTION WHATSOEVER to a "policy".
If I every create and release, my policy will be, "Do what you want with these, credit would be nice, and no damned paysites, especially TSR. But seriously, if you ignore this, what could I really do about it anyway?"
So many great creators are gone, but many come up to fill their places. I am learning to mesh, so there's hope for me filling in someone's shoes one day!

Haha...actually I have made a few things, I'm learning to do pose boxes at this moment and I've learned to extract textures from other games...I am hoping to turn those textures into something useful. My first upload is over at GOS: http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=26342.0
Also, I've made a few outfits but...I am a perfectionist and wouldn't release a project until I am very very sure that it's top-notch quality. With all the ridiculously detailed creations out there nowadays...I feel embarrassed to release anything that is remotely fug. =\

I miss Adele! I don't play TS2 anymore, but all of her downloads are just gorgeous, and they're so different from a lot of the modern cc for TS2. I'm still searching all over the internet for TS2 > TS3 Adele conversions, I miss her sets in my game :(

Some people started uploading in 2007/8 when an okay job was seen as something great and those people gradually got better. These days you can't just start out doing a copy paste in Paint unless you keep it to yourself (I did a swim suit that way) if you start out you need to find tutorials which still have pictures, which match your current programs -very confusing when they use Photoshop and you are using Gimp. I managed to do a recolour of two toddler outfits in Gimp that were okay, but certainly not great. It also needs to be top notch right away if you want to upload as fug is embarrassing and will get you snarky comments. Not conductive to making a person keep going when they can see how far short they are of some of the best creators. Sometimes I think great this says it's easy, maybe I’ll give it a go. Open simpe, yep I can do that and even know the clone button, great. Then it says something about importing textures with no steps as how to do that. This was a 'beginners project' I have no clue about importing textures or even exactly what that means. I would need lots of clear instructions and time. But free time is scarce so I'd rather upload something I think I do alright at already that I can enjoy making not tearing my hair out over--building. Not to White House standards but quite reasonable I hope and at least I feel I'm giving something back.
Edit: I forgot, I did upload some walls to my Live journal. :) Might do some more of them.
Great walls labellavienna, I'm not game enough to try uploading anything to GOS.

I would love to be able to mesh, or generally do anything that isn't baby work such as houses and walls and floors (which I've only just learnt how to do). I'm sure it takes a boatload of patience/ time to be able to create things that people respect and admire, that's certainly an aspect which makes me anxious about starting. I'm sure there are a lot of people like myself out there, that find it more entertaining downloading rather than creating. xD
I wouldn't ever pass something off that isn't mine, though, plagiarism really makes me cringe, especially since someone works so hard at something only to find someone else is taking credit for their efforts. If we had less of that in TS2 community, maybe we'd still have some amazing creators. Not only because they make amazing stuff, but because they're a great example to learn from when you want to create things yourself.

Oh i just read Enayla's TOU, a lot of people are 'reusing' her stuff, knowingly violating her wishes. I was going to download some of her skin at livejournal that someone had redone. But not now. Its kinda sad that no one has respect for someones hard work anymore.

Thank you, and honestly...start off small and with something you love to do. Like I love making walls, floors, doors, paintings, recoloring clothes etc. those things are easy and because I love doing them...I get better and better with recoloring...which leads to meshing and eventually more complicated stuff.
The fact is, is that I love to create...it doesn't matter if people troll, criticize, compliment, or trash my creations. The important thing is that you have a great time doing it, and you do it for the craft. Have a great time, and don't let your insecurities override your perseverance.

I agree with the whole being shut out of the game thing.
I can mesh clothing, but not as well as I'd like to. I can animate and pose well, but it never seems to work with the boxes ingame and nobody seems to know why. I know how to convert objects, but they never show up. Etc, etc. I make a LOT of clothing for my sims (nearly everything I use just for personal, non-maxis-match play), but is it up to the aesthetic approach you people like in the game? Not a chance. I make them very quickly and though I can make better, I won't, because I want a lot of variety in a little time. I hand them out to my little inner machinima circle to use.
I also make posters and houses, but uploading them . . . I'm really not sure that my taste for variety and layouts would really work. Overall, I'm not confident enough in my abilities to return to uploading. I used to post on another (dead) site, but that was way back in the day. I couldn't see myself doing anything except private requests. :|

I'm still at the beginning stages of CC creation; right now I'm at the "copy-paste-huzzah!" point, and mainly work at converting stuff. I'm working on getting better with my tablet pen so I can draw stuff for textures, and I'm trying to find my install disks for my favorite art program (which gave up the ghost last year in a fit of self-preservation) so I can re-install it and do even more. I also downloaded milkshape and have started messing with that, as well as extracting textures from the game to play with.
All of the stuff I make is made because I wanted it for my game, and I share it because why not?

Actually there was an update about where Enayla disappeared to. Apparently she got a job working the film industry in some design capacity and is no too busy to sim.

If she is too busy for a hobby, I hope she is enjoying her work.
