Custom Content only shows up in The Body Shop

I've read all the help information the site has but I still cant fix the problem.
I just installed the original Sims 2. I have all content in the correct folders.
Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Downloads .
I've tried all the tricks and tips. My custom content only shows up in The Body Shop.
I get on Sims and nothing. I've been trying to fix this for weeks.
Please help it's doing my head in because I just can't figure it out. :(

Yeah it was one of the first things I checked.
I've had Sims 2 on my computer before.
I remember I had some trouble with custom content then too.
But I managed to fix it somehow by following the steps in the help section.
But I cant remember how.

Well, it seems to me that if following the steps in the Help section fixed it once before, following them again should help again. Shouldn't it?
