San Francisco Victorian houses have stood the test of time, surviving the 1906 earthquake the houses are respected for their style and age; Forty-eight thousand Victorian houses were build in San Francisco between 1849-1915. With age the facades crumpled, during the sixties and seventies there came about the "Colorist Movement." Soon thereafter the Victorian houses became known as the "Painted Ladies." Every color was used to restore their beauty,"Painted Ladies" criteria were that the houses be painted in three or more contrasting colors to enhance their architectural details. Roof color, window trimming, and door color was also counted as a third or fourth color. Since then the term "Painted Ladies" has also been used to describe colorful Victorian houses in other American cities. I ran across this house I created above in a hidden area in San Francisco, the owner was outside we talk and she told me the house look different than most San Francisco houses. Because she had it move from another area very close to San Francisco, this house was feature in a book called "Painted Ladies" by Elizabeth Pomada who live in San Francisco. After I finish creating this home without using custom I sent the owner and the author a picture of this San Francisco House "Painted Lady" to my surprise they was both very please and told me the period and style, and they added that there are many other styles, that people have not yet seen In San Francisco.
