A while ago, I came across this tutorial at deviantART by Talisturo, and I tried to use it to make eyes for The Sims 2, but I didn't have a graphics tablet at the time so they were a disaster. I've have since bought a tablet and have been meaning to have a go at making some eyes, and have now finally got around to it. These eyes are hand painted by me in Photoshop, and come in default and non-default (contact) versions.
You can only have one set of default eyes in your game at a time, so you need to delete any existing version before installing mine.
Also, you need to delete the simCompositorCache.package in your:
C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
folder before these will show up on your existing sims.
(path my vary depending on your operating system.)
You need to choose to install either the small version or the EA-sized version of the defaults.
Found under costume makeup in the game.
They have one channel.
They are for male and female, from Toddler to Elder.
Not enabled for random, they are enabled for all outfits.
The non-defaults look exactly the same as the defaults shown in the pictures.
You can have both sets of contacts in your game, they have different thumbnails, so you can tell which is which easily.
There are two files in the which are clearly marked as defaults and contacts, so you can choose to install one or both.
I've added a second file labelled Small Out of Sight Eyes which contains both default and contact versions in a smaller size (see the screenshots for comparison.)
IMPORTANT: Due to the way eyes work in The Sims 3, the Out of Sight Small defaults replace the overlay too, this means that they are incompatible with any other downloads which alter the overlay.
