New Mesh
This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
I admit it. I'm jealous of all of those pretty modular stair recolors with tiles. Stairs are something I've never attempted because I thought they'd be too hard. Well, after searching for existing stairs like I wanted and not finding any- I decided to try it. Stairs aren't as frustrating as I thought! (Well, the sides gave me a bit of trouble but I taught them a lesson, lol.) So- here's the result of my first stair attempt.
![]() The stairs are just stairs. There is no railing and they are open underneath. You can place furniture and other objects under them using the "moveobjects on" cheat. The furniture will still be usable. (Yay!) Since I wanted to be able to do tiled risers, the stairs are 2 subsets: the steps and the risers. Which is why there is no railing WITH the stairs. Want a railing? Read on... There are 3 railings to choose from- the value, straight and designer railings from Maxis stairs. The railings are just railings. For all 3 railings, both sides are separately recolorable. The railings can be placed without cheats and will not stop a sim from using the stairs. The woods are all Maxis: light, dark, medium, cherry, walnut, knotty pine and Season's red, blue, green. The tiles are various tiles from the internet edited by me. Since you can have different colored stairs, risers and railings there are many different design options. Stairs can be found in the usual place and the railings can be found in Deco>Sculptures. Hope you find these stairs useful! Recolors are definitely welcome- all you need is a 256X256 texture. (For the tiles, you'll want to keep the tiles small to keep them in proportion.) Wall-white is for the tiles, pine is for the stairs and light is for the railings. Polygon Counts: Stairs - 448 Value Railing (Railing) - 1856 (Maxis railing edited/smushed around, mine is actually less polys!) Designer Railing (Railing 2) 1936 (Maxis railing with a bit of editing to fit my stairs.) Straight Railing (Railing 3) 1536 (Maxis railing with a bit of editing to fit my stairs.) Additional Credits: SimPE, PhotoShop CS2, MilkShape, Numenor for his stairs- which inspired people to make tiles recolors- which inspired me to make these stairs, the Dream Team for the Grand Trianon set- from which I learned something amazing. 393 people have said thanks to mustluvcatz for this download.
