View Full Version : Using SimPE to link an orphaned mesh

Hi there,

I recently downloaded a number of outfits that aren't showing properly in game--all I see are the meshes. Is there a way to identify and either remove these orphaned meshes or to put them in their proper place (i.e., not tagged as Clothing)?

I've seen Theo's plugin, but it seems to show version 0.60 as the last supported SimPE version, and I'm using 0.70.

Advice welcomed and appreciated. I'm picky, and having the meshes there by themselves really annoys me.

You aren't seeing "just the meshes" - if you're seeing clothing showing up in-game that looks plain/un-coloured those are "templates" - that is, a plain, bucket-fill "recolour" that is meant to be used as a recolour template, for clothing creators to base their recolours on. Frankly, unnecessary since one can easily just replace the original meshes/textures. They're not orphaned - you just have a plain recolour. Assuming you have -another- recolour for them that isn't plain like that, you can just delete the plain templates with no issue. And if you don't have another recolour, you could still delete them and remove all the meshes using Delphy's Download Organiser, which should then properly detect them as orphans.

Thanks! I somehow missed Delphy's Download Organizer--I have a feeling my life is about to get much easier.

Are the ones that show up in-game with tracer lines also recolor templates? That's what one of them looks like.

If you're seeing it in the game, it's a recolour. Clothing (and all other Body Shop items that use meshes) won't show up in the game without a basic recolour. I'm guessing you mean something like this (http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/7/6/3/1/8/7/MTS2_SussisSoGoodSims_525931_packaged-recolor.jpg), with the "tracer lines"? That particular example is a recolour template for hair, but the same basic idea follows for all Body Shop recolours.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing. Thanks for the info!
