Question About Basements

My sim Family Live 500 SunnySide BlVd...that home near the ocean. I Want to build a basement, but when I try to delete the inner foundation the game won't let me. It say's "Can't intersect an object"?..I'm confused. Has anyone tried to build a basement on this lot? And if so could you assist me on how to do it so it works

I've only been able to build a basement with the sides uncovered, which was okay for me considering the house has a lot of aliens in it and I explained it away with it just being their crash site. I'm wondering if you have to build the foundation over the hole? I didn't try it, as I was rather set on my odd crater surrounding by then.

Thanks, but I know how to build a basement, I did it all the time in the Sims 2. I'm Just having issues with this house that already existed. I'm trying to build a basement, but like i said its not letting me

You need to remove any objects on top of the foundation, cause removing the foundation removes the flooring beneath said objects. :P

I went there in my game and got the same thing . So I deleted all the furniture on the lower level and it worked fine.

Thank you I had to rearrange some things, but I managed. In the Sims 2 I never had to remove items from the 1st floor it would always let me create a basement regardless so thats why i was confused thanks for all your help!
