View Full Version : It's not saving the traits

So, this first happened when Annette Goth and her husband John or whatever his name is were aged up from teens to adults. (I have teen marriage mod.) John got all 5 traits that were assigned to him, including the one new one.
His wife however didn't receive the last trait I assigned to her. I aged up his wife after him. The trait didn't lock in.
I tried using "Testingcheatsenabled true" and then modifying her traits to add in the one she was suppose to have, but didn't, and that did not work. I tried multiple times, then gave up. I decided I didn't care enough to be bothered by it.
They have a beautiful daughter, Reme.
Reme is born, I pick one of her traits, it locks in.
Then when I use the cake once again and age her into a child, she doesn't lock the new trait "good sense of humor" I once again try to use testingcheatsenabled, but it doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I've changed the life span of my sims multiple times during play, could this have caused any problems?
Help?

I haven't downloaded any mods that should effect the trait system. I'm considering doing so, as a random guess at how to fix my problem.

I had a similar problem. I created a sim in CAS, and gave him 5 traits, however last but not least, I gave him Workaholic.
I put him into a house, played him a bit, then noticed he had the want to "Be mean to someone" or something similar.
For some reason, the game assigned him Mean-Spirited instead of Workaholic. I know for a fact that I put in Workaholic. It's not like I accidentally pressed the wrong one or anything, either, because I made sure...
Pissed me off quite a bit, actually.

I've had the issue with aging sims up -- and the only way I've found to rectify that in my game is to be absolutely sure that the sim is selected and you can see their list of traits before you give them the new one. Once you see it pop up, it's stuck.

I'm not sure what the issue with that is, but it's worked 100% of the time for me. Maybe it'll help you.

It's just another bug that comes with the game. I've had plenty of traits go missing or (in story progression) sims without enough traits for their age. Maybe EA might give us a patch...maybe they won't. Either way, it's not an uncommon problem.

Argh I've had this probem too when my two toddlers aged into children - for the first one it asked me to pick a third trait for him, so I did - but it never showed up afterwards. For the second one it didn't even ask me - she just remianed with 2 traits. I'm assuming there's (still) no way to edit/add traits to existing sims :\

I was having my sim marry a pizza delivery guy, the first two tries brought a girl though, I noticed that under the relationships panel, she only had 2 traits. When a male delivery boy came, I ended up marrying him. He only had one trait - neurotic. Are all NPC's likethat?

I've noticed NPCs tend to have less traits.

I figured out (thank you google, and other people who've had this problem) that if you use testingcheatsenabled, modify the traits, and pick not from the long list but from the sub list, there is a higher likelyhood that the trait will stick.

I did that with my two sims, and it stuck, but I've heard it doesn't work every time for everyone. It's still good though. ^_^

So if you're not satisfied with the amount of traits, you can cheat them in still.
Most NPCs I see tend to have 4 traits.
