I just can NOT find it in Twinbrook. So, please, for the sake of my sanity, tell me where it is! I combed the swamps, climbed the hills, picked up anything that seemed to even remotely move until I began to believe that seeds were insects, too. My Sim is filthy rich now from selling all the cockkroaches I piled up during this quest, Trilobites galore and enough Rainbow butterflies to fill a house with, but still no Rainbow Beetle. I even found a map of Twinbrook on a German site where the Rainbow Beetle was given the number 11 but there is no number 11 on the whole map. That, I have to say, was not funny!

Do you have the collection helper? That might help, I've never used it for insects though, only seeds. I will investigate this further.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, I do have it. (Stole it even from another Sim,when my main Sim couldn't afford it yet. See how desperate I am?)

Hmmm, I haven't been able to find any information on the insects in Twinbrook, but quite a few people claim to have found the rainbow beetles in France, even by accident, so if you have world adventures you could have your Sim go on vacation and search for them there. Also in Sunset Valley they can be found around the stadium, so you could try the stadium in Twinbrook too. At least as far as collecting other things, I've noticed that the more rare ones are found in the non-populated areas and outer reaches of towns, where no one ever goes. Raibow Beetles are listed as an "Extraordinarily Unusual" find, so it may take quite some time for them to spawn. Other than that, if you feel like cheating, you are able to place your own rainbow beetle spawner if you enable buy debug.

Thanks for your help, twilightgarden0. I am actually a few clicks away from placing a spawner somewhere, I just wanted to know whether someone managed to find it before I did that. I started this neighbourhood especially in order to try out again how it is to complete some of the challenges (like collecting) without either cheating or travelling. I was even reluctant to collect the gem that emerged when my sculptor broke his stone sculpture because I could clearly see that it was from a vacation world und thus would nullify my efforts to gain the heart shape cut by only using local resources. But I guess you're right, before the game starts to bug you you should bugger it.

Your welcome. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

It's random, as I recall that you must collect all insects that you had found, as the more you collect the higher the chances. Since the spawned area is random, everyone could tell from 10 different location. It was easy in Sunset Valley but not in Twinbrook, as I do remember clearly as I stumbled upon RB by accident but that was in Sunset. For Twinbrook , it was easy to collect metals but even now I had no luck just like you (even though you got Lucky traits) but to keep looking and collecting every single bugs/insects that you might find.

I might have to go bug hunting again soon and do nothing else for at least one straight (sims) week.

The thing is that the the Sim in question started collecting when he was a teen, he is YA now and the father of two children. He did spend days collecting whenever he had the chance but still no bloody RB. Is there any way to find out whether this particular spawner is maybe missing in Twinbrook? I know that you can check with buydebug on on community or residential lots but what about those that are not on lots?
