View Full Version : House Out Of Bounds

Alright, so recently I kicked a family out of a spacious home to move my main family in so that they'd have room to grow (I already had a son, unexpectedly from the time machine while living in a loft with a friend). So the house is in Bridgeport and goes by the name - Still Water (3br, 4ba) on 64 Queensbury Road, everytime I try to place an object outside the house -- lets say in the backyard around the pool it'll tell me I'm trying to place outside the actual boundaries of the lot. Normally I just use the moveobjects cheat to place objects, but the house it becoming crowded and some items I don't think fits being out in the open (Time Machine, workbench, nectar maker, etc).

So like any other smart Simmer, I decided to create a basement, only thing is even trying to build one exactly under the house (where items are actually consider within the bounds of the lot) but surprisingly it said "Homeowners' association rules do not allow this".

So what I'm asking is, anyone else having this issue? And if anyone has any suggestions in regards to over coming this issue.

Well, it's technically an apartment, so you can only put stuff in your own space. But you could use this cheat: "MoveObjects_On" and place the items where you want.

EDIT: Read full post. Hmmm.... I thought that it only happened with hot tubs.... Anywho, I *think* that there's a cheat to chance the lot zoning, but don't quote me on it.

Turn on testing cheats:
testingcheatsenabled true
And then turn off the build buy restrictions:
restrictbuildbuyinbuildings false

That should allow you to place objects in your apartment and extend the apartment to the basement.

See here for more details:

I had no idea that lot was an apartment, lol. Since it's like any other celeb-gated residence around the area. But I'll try the building restrictions code, I have Twallan's Story Progression/Master Controller/Over Watch so testing cheats is always on when I start-up.

Will report back if the problem is solved/persists.

EDIT: It works! Thanks!

It doesn't have to be an apartment as such, but any lot which has one of the room markers (hidden room, public room, level skip) on it, or else has a building shell, will have buildbuy restrictions.
