Ok so one thing that I think has made TS3 less epic and more boring the other Sims games is the lack of surprises. In Sims one you had every single social function as in Sims 3. The only difference was the only interactions you got to choose from were something like "flirt" "romantic" and like idk "propose marriage" then in friendly you had like "chat" "friendly" and like "hug" so why is that better than what we had? The game determined what interaction your Sim did by how many times you used said reaction. :luff:
Another was, before the EP was released, they didn't release every detail before it was on the market (and yes they weren't $40 bucks a pop)
I didn't know that when you went to a bar and drank juice that there were more interactions for Sims like "show off muscles" or "goof off". These only popped up when your Sim was "drunk" so to speak. :Pint:
Monsters were a surprise too! Although in Sims 1 they weren't permanent... unless of course your Sim was turned into a zombie. In which case you had to delete your Sim in buy mode to get them back to normal.
Anyone else see what I'm saying? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject. :heyhey: :heyhey: :heyhey: :heyhey: :heyhey: :heyhey: :heyhey:
P.S. I also miss Sims being able to go to restaurants and ordering food. It would be super awesome if someone could make a restaurant mod that included a functioning Receptionist Podium (make two and the price of the podium will determine food quality/variety). You could use Maids as buss boys/girls, Bartenders as chefs and Butlers as waiters/waitresses

Sims eat too fast. One would be finished by the time the other one sat down and orderd his food. I was playing TS2 recently and the mother sim cooked dinner and after she sat down with her plate to eat, her husband finished taking his bath, and came to eat, her daughter woke up and came down for dinner too, and they all had a lovely dinner together. In TS3 they just eat too fast, one has finished his food by the time the other manages to sit down at the table.

On the other hand, my sims spent so much time talking to each other over meals in TS2 that the kids were often either late for school or went to school hungry (because they did way more talking than eating...)
I think there could maybe be a happy medium between eating and chatting, so BOTH get done.
Also, I find it annoying that even if they get their food at the same time, in TS3 the sims will often not even sit at the same table to eat. Grrrrr!

yeah sometimes i make a door from the kitchen to outside and i usually put a grill and table on the porch. it sucks though because at least one sim will always go outside to eat

If you are asking was having one general chat better than having different categories for talking better? then my answer to this question would be no. I actually like having different types of chats. Better than one generic chat. I actually like that if my Sims just read a book, or watched TV, the chat interactions will have those topics. Same with being able to talk about cooking, or gardening. I also like that Sims get bored if you talk about the same subject continuously. I don't remember how chatting worked in TS1, was there something to it that didn't exist in the two games after that, but at least in TS2 it bugged me that you couldn't que multiple talks in a row. You had to select talk, something else, talk, something else..... then remove the something else interactions, to get a que of just talking.

We get a lot of info, which you don't have to read if you want to keep everything a secret.
Reading info about an EP is fun, and exciting, and grows the anticipation to get the EP.
About the price. Yes, EP's are expensive, but in the last 10 years, everything has gone up not just Sim EP's. Food, gas, utilities, but, so have also wages. Manufacturing costs for games have also risen, so it's natural that the actual price of the product also goes up.
I don't remember the "show off muscles" interaction in TS2, but then again, I know I never experienced every singe scenario in the game. Drinking in general, is lame in the Sim games. I have a vague memory reading that you could get drunk in TS1, but I never experienced that in my game and google is being of no help finding the answer.
I think the reason behind lame drinking, is parents, and the fact that the game is sold in countries where drinking is not as accepted functionality as it is in other countries. But mostly I blame parents, and how EA fears that making drinking more fun, would make parents mad and they fear loosing money.

This might be a trait thing. I have one family where one person will always eat outside, she has the loves the outdoors trait, while in the other two, eat in the kitchen.
To the eating thing, I agree that there should be a medium. Sims ate way too slow in TS2, and way too fast in TS3. Thankfully modifying eating lengths in TS3 is easy, so you can make your own tweak to it, if the already existing mods don't satisfy you needs.

Ani the "drunk" think i was talking about was in sims 1. I never really played ts2 hardcore but I was playing Sims 1 constantly for like 4 years haha so i can see your confusion.
