What does this tool do?

It's basically designed to let people easily clear the cache and identify problem content.

This tool has 4 main tasks:

- To easily show you which games you have, whether or not they have a full framework, and to browse to that games root folder.
- To show you the contents of the Sims 3 cache files, and clear them
- To show you all of your custom content in .package format, and display any "corrupted" files, or Sims 2 content, or stuff that just plain wont work.
- To fix any problems with corrupted files, empty files, generally broken files, and allow you to fix conflicts yourself

How do I use it?

Download and unzip the file. Run the Sims3Dashboard.exe file within.

You need .NET Framework 2.0 to run this tool. (It wont run on Mono unless you use X11)

:: You don't need to download or install .NET 2.0 if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 - it's included by default in those operating systems.

Can this file help me identify files that cause my game to slowdown?

Yes, it can. Any "bad" files are identified in Red and can be selected using the "Select Corrupt" button.

Can I move/rename/remove custom content using this tool

This is not a full featured download organiser, however it does let you disable custom content entirely from the list - this is used for corrupted stuff.

Will this identify incompatible mods, or outdated mods?

No, it won't. It's up to you to keep track of which mods work with which versions of your game.

However, it will detect "conflict" mods (marked as Duplicate) that basically conflict with another mod you have. It will also detect Empty packages.

I ran this tool but it didn't tell me I had any problems!

This tool only identifies particular issues - not everything. So if you have issues, and have nothing in red in this tool.. well thats what we have a help forum for.

Is this compatible with World Adventures?

Can I launch my game using this?

No, you can't.

Macs can't open .exe files unless you use a program like Wine. Installing Wine is different depending on the computer you have, and you'll need to download some 6GB of Xcode from Apple to get it to work. I recommend Googling for "Wine" and your computer model to learn more.

Please Help!!
So, I'm having an issue when I run the program where I get a pop-up telling me something like "bad compression flags at..." and it gives me this pop-up endlessly and makes the program unuasable. I have no idea what caused this, and I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the program and the companion program it requires, but it continues to give me this error. I have no idea what is wrong with it. Does anyone know how to fix this program? It works so well, I would hate to not be able to use it anymore!

Thank goodness for your dashboard. Even though a bad compression flag window keeps appearing, I kept closing it off so it eventually disappears. I deleted a few conflicted packages, and I am going to see if the game functions.

Where am I supposed to extract it into? I tried putting it in the same folder as the packages and in the mod folder where the package folder is. It seems to run fine but keeps telling me there are no packages in the scanned folders. What folders are being scanned? Please help.

Anyone who is experiencing a "Bad Compression Flag", needs to check their mod setup if they haven't accidentally installed a Sims 4 mod (CC, Mods) within in their Sims 3 mod setup.

S4 *.packages are a different build from S3 *.packages and will stop Dashboard from working properly. Clicking away these error messages won't do as it will skip a chunk of files you want it to check (even hiding any alarms like conflicts / corrupt files).

1. Move all mods from your Documents\EA\Sims 3\Mods\Packages /or/ Overrides folders to a newly created temporary folder on your Desktop, till there is none in your setup
2. Make a new folder on your desktop called Checked
3. Place a batch of mods (10) back in your Mods\Packages /or/ Overrides folder
4. Run Dashboard to scan (File> Scan Folder) Documents\EA\Sims 3\Mods and see if you get any "Bad Compression Flags" if not move the mods to your checked folder on your desktop
5. Repeat 4 with another batch of mods (10) and again and again till you get the "Bad Compression Flags"
6. When you get the bad compression flag, move 5 out of the folder and see if the bad compression flag is still there, if so check each individual mod whats causing it, if not check the other 5, narrow down the culprit this way.

If you are a believer that you haven't gotten a S4 mod in your setup when receiving the Bad Compression Flag, cause you are 100% certain you're doing things right. YOU ARE WRONG. Check your mod setup, make sure it only consist of S3 package files.
