Yus! More like RL Writing! My sims shouldn't get money before publishing, unless it's an advance! Thank you for making this

I like this mod. It adds more realism to the game. But, I have a question before downloading it: will this mod conflict with the "YAWN" mod, also a writing mod?
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! I love making the game harder, especially when it also makes it more realistic!

Yes, because they both alter Writing_0x49f73ba878b269dc.

I like this idea. Now if only there was a way to make it so that books had a chance to not be published at all.

You can use Twallans's "Written Word" mod here: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/WrittenWord+Phase+Three .
It puts your written books in the book store and you get money when they are sold.

Psst, guys, please take discussion of Twallan's mod over to Twallan's site. You can comment on stuff there too and ask questions if necessary. Let's keep discussion in this thread to this mod. Thanks.

Awesome! This is a great mod. I don't get any money for each chapter I write. Not from a publisher, my parents, or even myself to feel better. Now my sims can feel my pain. Thanks!

I'm glad someone did this. I was actually planning on doing something similar myself, but I never got around to it. So thanks for this!

Thanks for a great mod! How hard would it be to add new types of books to a writer's repertoire? I'm specifically interested in poetry.

Glad you like it, and funny you should say that - I'm looking into how new genres could be added at the moment. As far as I can see, it would have to be a script mod, and I have absolutely no idea how to do that (or whether it's even possible!), although I am planning to try and learn.

I'll be posting any progress I make on my MTS journal, but it's likely to be a long process, so I wouldn't hold your breath!

You got it, Analect. Though I did just find the poetry genre. Must've been the new patch that did it! I'm curious to see how your script mod comes out!

I know! Looks like Supernatural adds Horror and Poetry - two of the things I was planning on modding. I'd be careful if you have patch 1.38 but not the EP, however: as far as I can see in testing, Horror and Poetry both show up on the pie menu, but sims will reset if you try to direct them to write either genre and don't have Supernatural installed. (That happens with or without my mod installed - it's not connected. )

I will be adding an updated version for Supernatural when I get the EP, which will probably be in the next couple of weeks.

Does this mod work with the 1,63 patch? 1.38 is a long time ago.

Default Thanks for this anelect,
Hey man definate kudos on the mod, i downloaded it a did a little tweaking. I increased the length of time that royalties are paid.

I was wanting to try to find a way to make the type of book release be a factor in how long they are paid. but there doesn't seem to be an option for that that I could see. This would be a great idea if you do any tweaking on this mod yourself set it up so that say a flop only gives you one or two royalty payments if any at all... and a bestseller (with the idea of audio and movie rights) your sim can pull in royalties on that book for the next for the equivelent of ten sim years (I also play with epic lifetime btw.) I think that that would be a cool mechanic in a writing mod and make it much more like real life. Anyway once again thanks and kudos.

Is this compatible with patch 1.67?

I think it is, I have ITF and am on patch 1.63 and there were no additions to the Writing_0xblahblahblah file in the Gameplay data so I don't think there should be a problem. I checked them side by side, so unless the last two patches messed with the Writing_0xetc file for some unlikely reason then it should still be good
