Lumberjack - Forest

Date Posted: 18th Sep 2012 at 1:43 PM

I've always been fascinated by the idea of making a mountain neighborhood. This time I'm opting for a challenge and I've decided that I'll try to make some CC concerning the theme.

My neighborhood plans have a forest, so a lumberjack theme custom content would be perfect. One part of the collection would be a forest portal. The woods will be something like a rabbit hole, similar to the one in The Sims Medieval.

Here is a list with things that should be done.

1) Clone the "Forest Portal" from a tree
2) Add the Interactions
3) Find a way to make it invisible in Live Mode

I need some help though. I once had The Sims Medieval installed and I remember about the forest. If anyone is still playing it I would be glad to tell me all the interactions.

Interesting Find - Transparent tiles on ground

Date Posted: 20th Aug 2011 at 10:09 AM

Today by luck I found out what is happening when a transparent tile is placed on the ground. I didn't knew this so I decided to note it down!

As you can understand by the picture, a transparent tile on the ground lets you see the level which is under the ground (Ground=lvl 1, so lvl -1 [bottom of the pool]).
We know that when a Transparent tile is placed on ground you can see a light blue colour, and no grid under that, meaning that lvl -1 is not available, but it gets available after building a pool.

So we have a grid in lvl -1, can we place objects on this grid? Also can we adjust the depth/height of the lvl -1? When we are using the CFE cheat the lvl -1 changes its elevation (if adjusting the ground no pool's bottom). If you set the GA to lower the ground 20cl lvl -1 will be higher than lvl 0?

RESEARCH: Can you see below lvl -1? We know that the lowest level that is used by the game is lvl -1, but is there a level under lvl -1?

I know that this entry has more questions than the thing I found, but I just wanted to note all of the Qs down. Also the GA researches may be helpful to answer those Qs, so Mootilda if ,from your researches, you know something for any question, please comment on it!

Current Project: District 16586

Date Posted: 18th Jul 2011 at 8:39 AM

Hi there! The project that I'm working on now is "District 16586", a new downtown for your your sims to enjoy! I decided to make a downtown because my PC can't handle any EPs further than NL, and as long as the ERROR with SimPE hasn't fixed yet, building is the only option left . So here is a small preview.

District 16586

Story:
A pleasant scenery, some peaceful neighborhoods...it seems to be the best place for a sim to live in...ahhhh...! This is the description of any other place except District 16586. Here is the place with lots of traffic, a 24-hour life, and the most populated part of the city! Despite the hustle and bustle, the tall towers and the construction sites, this place has a harmony with the nature.

Lots:

There will be a total number of 23 lots. Both residential and community. More specific 17 community and 6 residential.

Community Lots:

Napoli's Pizza
Fork 'n' Knife
Water Heights Bistro
Coffe & Sports
Music Box
Below 0
Hangover Night Bar
Tower Squere
District's Park
24
Vz
$ Towers
Central Library
Sculpture Museum
Water World - SimCity.
(2 left to be found)

16586:
Actually the number of the district it is not just a set of five random numbers, every number has a meaning. It is made by a total of 4 numbers (a 2-digit number, and three
1-digit numbers)

16
-- It is the number taken by the day I got the idea (the 16th of July 2011)
5-- It is the number of the total lots (23). I was loking for a 1-digit number, so 2+3 is equal to 5, and that worked for me .
8-- The number of the total community lots, 17, meaning 1+7=8.
6-- Again the number of residential lots, this time I didn't had to use any mathematics.

Hope you will like this new Downtown, and I also hope that I will complete it soon! :D

THIS PROJECT IS PAUSED, DUE TO LACK OF IDEAS. I'LL FINISH THE 3 LOTS THAT ARE LEFT AFTER I GET INSPIRED

How Beach Lots Look Like - Elevation & Portals Placement

Date Posted: 21st Jun 2011 at 12:47 PM

Hello people, I decided to start a journal, probably a journal with any kinds of graphs explaining the way game works.More specific graphs about building. So, I hope that I can help you understand more about the game.

Here are some graphs of how Beach Lots look like (tell me if they are difficult to understand)
Also there is a conversation running here

Above there is a graph with the elevation (It is numbered from the back of the lot.) a Beach Lot has.Actually the "special" part about Beach Lots is the last 20 tiles. The shore (orange),and the sea (blue). This is the place that all Beach Lot's interactions take place. Also it is an unbuiltable area.

The Shore:

The place that most Interactions take place. It is enough close to the water edge of the neighborhood that if you remove 1 click from it, it is covered with water. But normally all interactions still working. It is 8 tiles wide and it is 16 clicks above Seafloor.

The Sea:
The Sea is splited into two parts
Part 1 - Shallow Sea
Part 2 - Seafloor

Part 1 - Shallow Sea:
Is the first 4 tiles (from shore to the sea) [tiles 9 to 12 in the graph] , this is where the sim is walking in order to get into the sea and start swimming. The trickiest part in lots elevation (elevations are noted down at the left of the graph -- the red letters), if the elevation is not exactly the same then the beach lot is not working.

The two back corners of the 1st tile, looking from the shore, must be 3 clicks deep, the 2nd 5, the 3rd 8, and the last 16 clicks deep from the surface.

Part 2 - Seafloor
The rest 8 tiles [tiles 1 to 8 in the chart].It is 16 clicks deep, and it is the place where the sim is actually swimming.

This is a graph of how portals are placed in the lot (I might update this pic later). This is how a 1 neighborhood tile will look like,as far as portals concerned. The numbers on the left is the tile numbers associated with the previous graph.
This pic is repeated for every adittional neighborhood tile.
