Jo, dapasp says she (?) already uninstalled it. But, let's back up. Dapasp - you went to Control Panel, then "Uninstall a Program" right? Then you uninstalled Sims 2. Then you reinstalled? If so, did you start the game so that it would generate a new EA Games folder? If not, what exactly did you do? This is a long thread and I think it's starting to get a bit convoluted. So knowing exactly what you've done to get to the point you're at right now will help a lot.

Yes she I've uninstalled but not reinstalled yet, I thought I should get rid of any leftover files....though they seem to not want to be deleted.

In program files (x86) is the EA GAMES folder still there? Double click to open it. Now, double click to open that folder. If you right click on the files in this folder does it not give you the option to delete them? If an uninstall did not get rid of all EA it will all have to be deleted manually. I had to do this about three years ago to get The Sims 2 Deluxe to install again.

Well, if the folder ( EA GAMES) is still there and you have used uninstaller to get rid of the game that means a bit of the game is still on your computer. Double click it again and make sure there is really nothing in there. If there is, right click and choose delete. If the EA GAMES folder is still there, as you said it is, you can right click it and choose delete. I even emptied my trash bin of all things sims 2 related. I had to remove all things The Sims 2 related before a new install of the game would work. Maybe even do another search on the computer to make sure you do not see any more traces of the game.

You will also have to get rid of the registry keys or else there will still be traces of the game on your computer, which can cause future installs not to work properly, particularly if you're installing a different version of the game. You would need to do the same thing if you decide to get/install the UC at some point.

Unfortunately, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who I know knows how to do that. Perhaps @marka93 ? Or if he doesn't know himself, perhaps he knows someone who does or where there might be a tutorial; he's far techier than I am.

This guide will help. Just be very very careful with the registry. Make a backup before you delete anything and only remove the things on the list. Removing the wrong thing can cause serious issues for the computer. The tutorial mentions that too, but it's worth repeating.

Normally the reg keys would be wipe out after the game/program is uninstalled and then a restart of the computer. I will go read this thread to see whats up.

This thread is to long to read could someone tell me whats up.

Basically, the OP runs Windows 10 and installed two versions of the game at one point (a standalone base game and Double Deluxe) and can't get CC to show although they've said they downloaded required meshes and the things are compatible with their configuration and such. They also had odd extraneous folders. (Like a "The Sims 2 Double Deluxe" folder in the Documents/EA Games folder, which shouldn't be there, and a "The Sims 2" folder that didn't have all of the right folders in it. (Cameras, Collections, etc..) Different people have tried helping them to no avail. It seems (to me and to others) that the remedy is a clean uninstall/reinstall, but given that this whole mess might have been caused by a dual install, I'm thinking they might have some file/registry mess that needs to be manually cleaned. I just don't really know how to do that.

Buuuuut it looks like omglo linked them to an EA page that might have what they need.

If this happened to me I would probably take it to our IT friend and have him clean it. The fact that their are ghost files sounds like it's a job for an expert.

So are there any Sims 2 files or folders left when you search? If everything is gone, you should be all set to restart the computer, then reinstall. If there are still files and folders left over - what error are you getting when you try to delete?

Some folders can not be deleted until you go in and delete the files inside then you can delete the folders.

I agree with omglo, that daspatp should just try and reinstall the game and see it works and and if Downloads(make a Downloads if needed) works. Despatp says she can't find anymore Sims 2 files left on the computrer, What worked for me ah well, my not work for all. Oh, bty marka93 you are loved in so many ways.

This was all that was left, I tried to delete them but t kept saying try again but I think it's fine because think it's to do with the internet. Do you think I'm good to reinstall?

Just try it and see if it works and if it looks like straw grass and painting looking blue water then you will need to fix your video card data.

You still seem to be missing a number of subfolders that I think ought to be there, but...Well, like marka said, give it a try, see what happens. Maybe they don't generate until you run the game, though. Or maybe things configure differently with Double Deluxe; it's been a long time since I've had anything other than the full game.

Everything looked fine, there was one big window that appeared as just a hole but aside from that all was fine
