Add them back in in smaller and smaller groups until you can isolate the problematical custom content.

Just thought I'd let you know that my motherboard died shortly I reported the crash. The crash just happened to be the first symptom other than the USB ports occasionally not working. After that, the video card failed, followed by one hard drive not being detected after a restart (but the video card worked that time) then it wouldn't start at all. I remembered what you said about instability, and ended up putting all the weirdness together and after several tests to rule out bad RAM, hard drive, etc., I determined it was the motherboard.

I got a new motherboard, processor, RAM and finally got Windows 7, so I guess it wasn't all bad in the end. So, yeah, you were right about the instability.

Thanks for the update. Maybe non Sims 3 executables reflect potential hardware problems. That is very valuable information.

Motherboards and power supplies are the most common points of failure in computers, unfortunately.

Errors on MSVCR80.dll and other Windows core files have often been linked to hardware instability. Has the computer every locked up or restarted itself lately? Do other games crash to the desktop too?

Edit: I should note that the errors above have changed from the error you posted previously. You are making som progress in terms of getting it resolved.

Hi. I have late night installed all the latest patches etc. and have been playing ok since it came out, with the occasional crash to desktop but not frequent enough to bother me. The Analyzer gave me Unknown so I didn't pay attention, thought it was CC related.
Yesterday my game crashed twice in half an hour upon finishing a house remodeling job. The Analyzer showed both times Large address aware. But I thought that the latest patch has taken care of this issue so how is it possible to be crashing because of LAA?
Do I need to do something manually?
I'm running win 7-32 bit and have 4gb of ram.
Many Thanks

This is the only thing that crashes. no it hasn't been restarted itself or locked up lately. actually, it's never done that.

Have you done UserVA 3072? If no, follow the instructions on that link and it should keep the crash away for a while longer.

CLA has some bugs with handling the memory situation. I think I will have to pretty much completely recode it and that's not going to happen for a while.

Hmm, all I can suggest trying then is removing all your custom content. If that fixes the problem, slowly add the custom content back until you find the culprit.

Weird. TS3 Free VM should have 450 MiB / 3.00 GiB. Did you ever use a large address aware application after installing Late Night? If no, the game should already be large address aware.

I guess you could try following the UserVA instructions again just to double check that it accepted it. Make sure to restart after using that command.

I'm going to see about getting Large Address Aware hosted again just to double check that the game is large address aware.

Edit: You can download The Sims 3 Large Address Aware from one of these two locations:
World Mirror
Europe Mirror

Download, extract, and run it. If it says "False" after "The Sims 3: Late Night," click on "Force LAA." It should now be set to "True" and it will hopefully not crash anymore.

I'm getting crashes only when I attempt to install something from the in-game Downloads Dashboard. I doubt I'm doing something wrong, but the Downloads Dashboard certainly used to work, glitches and all.

Other than that, I have had very few crashes. I have DEP turned off for everything, LAA for the prior-to-LN stuff. All CLA reports look like this (redundancies removed):

That took care of the memory issue (correctly reporting 4 GiB virtual memory now). Have you tried removing custom content yet?

A stack is a memory structure and an overflow happens when more data is pushed onto the structure than it can handle. More info here:

Was that with all custom content removed? I don't know what to tell you. I guess you'll just have to wait for the next patch to come out and hope it fixes it. Most likely, I think it is something wrong with the computer specifically but you haven't seen anything other indications of problems so I have no idea what. It might be possible that the integrated graphics in your computer simply isn't up to snuff for the game but there's really no way to prove that. I guess, if you can, it might be best to play the game on different computer.

Thanks, at your recommendation I did that. It turns out the problem is with specific EA store content, not all store content. Now it's working ok without crashing (as long as I don't install the problem store content.)

I'm not sure what I did, but my game was crashing BAD! I did the DEP thing, cleaned all cache files, updated vid card drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled game, ran this checker, deleted all crash logs, made DEP run for essential windows programs only and...NO CRASHES! Not sure how long this will last tho! At least I am not depressed cause I can't play! LOL

I'm back again! But this time I have some good news. . . and some bad. Good news is: I figured out the problem to my game! The bad news: it was the game file I was trying to play. More good news: I can play other neighborhoods! Other bad news: Whenever I play Bridgeport I get this:

You've had a 0x24 crash before with no custom content installed. They were likely caused by the same thing. You could try removing the custom content again but I doubt it would help. Maybe try clearing your caches (CLA can do that in one of the drop down menus)?

You also experienced this crash once before (before all the STACK_OVERFLOWs). If you have already tried removing all custom content, try clearing the caches. CLA can do that under one of the top menu options.
