Does it crash straight to the desktop or does your computer lock up and/or restart? The former creates exception logs Crash Log Analyzer can handle, the latter does not. Lock ups/automatic restarting is often indicative of hardware issues with the computer.

The manual directory must be set to the same directory where all the saves, mods, screenshots, etc. go which is, by default: C:\Users\*MyUsername*\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

Thanks for the quick reply FordGT!

It crashes straight to desktop with no warning... and there is no real pattern but more often when I zoom in on a sim out of neighborhood view or in Buy mode. I tried leaving the Crash Log Analyzer opened in the background and I also tried with the program closed but regardless I still get 0 logs processed... and from your reply the default directory should work.... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?

Navigate to that directory via "Computer" or "My Computer" and see if there are any files in that folder that begin with xcpt. That's what the Crash Log Analyser looks for.

Ok I followed exactly that path and there is no folder with xcpt txt or mdmp on my computer anywhere... I even tried to search it and nothing comes up... does that mean there is no record of my crashes and thats why the Log Analyzer is not reporting anything?

Is there an alternative for me to make the program work or is it hopeless?

Correct. It will show it if it can find it.

Maybe it wasn't up to The Sims 3 to close. Perhaps something else told it to close like an anti-virus program or something else running on the computer. The Sims 3 wouldn't create an exception report if that were the case because technically, it didn't crash.

Thanks for you help FordGT!

I usually shut down anti-virus when I play and even when I didn't shut it down I didn't have that crashing issue before installing the OLS stuff pack patch... but at least it's a clue to get to the source of my problem. The game itself probably isn't crashing it's some other program forcing my game to shut down.

Thanks again :-)

Tonight, had two crashes straight to the desktop. The first time was while clicking on a nightclub/lounge venue from the map view (we added this club to Barnacle Bay). I tried clearing out the world caches, but still experienced a 2nd crash while actually having a sim visiting the same night club.

I think you ran out of RAM. It says you only have 2 GiB of RAM so the 2.83 Free VM can't be right. If I am correct, that means the game was using 1.62 GiB on the first and 1.76 GiB on the second leaving noly 380 MiB on the first and 240 MiB on the second to Windows which is not enough. The game probably requested more RAM and Windows denied the request causing it to crash.

Edit: Looking back at your previous crashes (five total, including those you just posted), the same numbers keep coming up:

Installed RAM: 2 GiB
Total Virtual Memory: 2.83 GiB
Free Virtual Memory: 1.07-1.37 GiB

That's too frequent to be mere coincidence.

Thanks! I didn't notice that it was the same set numbers as with the previous crashes. The game had been going along quite well until last night, so I didn't really think much on the previous issues.

This crashing is driving me nuts, I don't know what to do... My game will crash after doing interactions with another sim, it seems to crash after 5 to 6 interactions through. I used Sims 3 Dashboard to make sure I have nothing corrupted or conflicting, but I still get crashes. This is what mys logs say.

I don't want to have to remove custom content. I have to big mods NRaas_MasterController, and BaXiM Extended game core. I didn't have any problems before, now it started happening more often, especially today. Appreciate any help, thanks.

Hmm, the BREAKPOINT again. Marty38 and raverbritney02 were the only ones to post them besides you...

I would suggest increasing UserVA. Instructions are here:
http://www.simswiki.info/wiki.php?t....2C_Server_2008

You have 4 GiB RAM so use the 3072 value in the instructions. It might help, it might not but it shouldn't hurt anything so it is at least worth a shot.

Thanks FordGT90Concept for the response back, I gave it a shot and thought it was working, because I had lasted longer in the game, but then it crashed :/ Do you think it could be something conflicting with something in my mods?

Do you think this tool could help 4GB_Patch ?

Or Do you think because I have 380 packages, it could be causing a over load? Should I combine all of them?

Since 1.17 (I think) they patched the game to be large address aware without requring 3rd party software as demonstrated by TS3 Free VM going from 2.00 GiB to 3.00 GiB. If it needed the "4GB Patch" that number would still be at 2.00 GiB.

Memory should be out of the way now. The only other suggestion I have is to remove all custom content and see if it goes away. If it does, slowly add custom content back in until you find the culprit.

Thats what I guessing I would have to do, but do you think compiling the custom content to one would help? I heard that people do that for less problems when they have a lot of custom content.

I have no idea. I am no expert on custom content. That would be a good question to ask in the forums.

Can one read medieval crash logs with this tool to or would they be completely different ?

I have no idea. Some things won't work right because the are TS3 specific like the version numbers but, I assume they are on the same engine so they will produce similar crash files.

There's no harm in trying. All you most likely have to do is change the directory to search for xcpt*.txt files in.

I think it gives that when it has no better ideas (low in the pecking order). It would probably need some major work to support Medieval. If you want to post the exception from Medieval (stop at [Call Stack]), go for it. I'll see if it has the tell-tale signs of the crashes TS3 gets frequently (DEP/RAM/LAA).

It doesn't have any of the signatures of the typical TS3 crashes unfortunately.

The fact fpslimiter helped (3booter really doesn't do anything from what I gather--just relaunch the game if it crashes) might suggest something on her computer is overheating and/or unstable (most likely GPU).
