A very nice list there!
Maybe I should use some of these on a new neighbourhood

This is also good if you're running dry on ideas for university towns. Just how many coffee shops can one PUT in those?

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

THERE IS NO LIMIT TO COFFEE SHOPS!!!! AAAAAAAAAA!!! In all seriousness though, the town I went to university in probably has more than thirty different coffee shops within five minute's walk of campus. Thanks to that, it doesn't bother me much to see every other building in a UNI hood be a coffee shop!

Having an over-abundance of coffee shops in a neighborhood, feels like home

I don't think I've ever seen an (rl) university town without an H&M around here, so I've added one to what is Le Tour after three generations of students.

Besides that, I have a pool - gym - bistro combo (because swimming makes you hungry, darn it!), an university library, a general library - Starbucks - dance studio combo, roller rinks and a restaurant - sidewalk cafe - chill zone combo. I also left the original park, cafe, student's center and I think one other building (albeit edited minimally).

Great list, sims 1, I think I will use some of your ideas.

Great list! Someof these are combined in my neighborhood such as an art museum/cafe or a lounge/bar/restauran. I would lie to add to this list:

auto/body shop [Freetime]
bakery [Open for business]
Night club/Dance hall [Nightlife (Freetime for the ability to have dance contests)].

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

Some of my favourite stores right now are the trinkets store and the weapons shop. I have all sorts of cute little deco sculptures and vases that just never seem to get used, so I made a 'tat' store that sells them. I expect it to be popular with little old ladies looking for things to put on their mantlepiece. And the weapons shop is a must-have for Veronaville. I also love a pub. A bar downstairs, a big screen TV for football matches, and a function room upstairs with a pool table, dart board, guitar, and buffet table for weddings, parties and wakes.

Well remember you can chain out stores; for example, The Book 'N' Cranny will become a chain around level seven, opening up its' second and third locations with the success of the first. If it lasts, B'N'C can easily extend to college towns.

-Book Stores and Magazine Kiosks. (Can be done basegame)

-Electronics store. Sell just about any electronic you can think of. (Can be done basegame.)

-Furniture Warehouse. For places to park your rear. In college towns, mark things down a little for the college kids. (Basegame.)

-Movie Theater/Opera House. (OFB - get the ticket charger thing and build a room with a tv + chairs, maybe a small concession stand. If you have BV, you could use one of those built-in food kiosks.)

-Small band venue. Have a stage, drum kit, guitar, and mic at the ready. Would be great with the addition of a restaurant. (Uni + Nightlife needed)

-Just your average grocery store. Because no town can survive without a place to get the goods.. unless you like magically appearing food delivery people with no point of origin and items of mysterious quality. No, not even a college town can live entirely on stolen pizza. (Can be done in basegame.)

-Wal-Mart. Have a store that sells a little bit of everything. Lol. (Can be done basegame; could be spruced up with OFB shelves.)

-Antique shop. Sell old things or decoration section goods. (Can be done basegame, OFB, or, if you have BV, include items you dig up.)

-Offer an outdoor music venue; a public park with a stage and instruments. (Uni needed for instruments.)

-A karaoke bar. Slap in some karaoke equipment and supply the booze, sims are sure to love you. (You need... Freetime? I think? For the equipment.)

-A Billiards Hall. Have a bunch of pool tables available for play, include a bar and some food. (Pool tables came with... Uni, Freetime and Apartment life.)

-A poker hall. Include a dart board or two, have maybe a restaurant on the other side and you're good. (NL needed.)

-A small-animal pet shop for campus (selling birds, gerbits, ant farms, fish tanks). (Need pets.)

-Potions store, for your wizardly people. (AL needed, OFB needed. This one would likely need to be player owned.)

-Chess park. Haven't figured out how this one'll work.. probably the ticket master and some rows of chess boards. And a public bathroom. (OFB needed.)

-Playground. Use AL equipment to make a place kids will love to go. (AL.. obviously.)

Take the Hard Hat Challenge. A relatively quick challenge designed to be added into almost any established hood.

Hollow Tune - Brick 'N' Mortar.

- A community center with a park.

My community center has an indoor basketball court (found some great markings for indoor floors here ), a job-search center, a couple of art rooms (one painting, one pottery), a dance/yoga room (might need the Monique mirror for the yoga class, though), a nice playground in the back, grills on the side. Next to it is a second lot (I tried the Lot Adjuster and it worked great, but I wanted a much larger park, and the community center took up most of the other large lot) with soccer fields and a walkway around a huge pond with fishing spots. (Thanks to everyone who helped me find some park animals, BTW. )

Here's one real-life example I plucked from a quick Google: https://www.greenwood.in.gov/topic/....php?topicid=67 . Many of these are on the same grounds as beautiful parks and ample fields for sports activities.

- a thrift store. My next project. Definitely not for Sims who want to make a lot of money!

It can either be a high-end thrift store, low-end, or somewhere in the middle. You pick. Unlike a super-store, this one would be tiny. I think of this more of a supplemental-income source, rather than a main-income source.

- a plant nursery. Always a favorite with my daughter and me. Even if you have only up to OFB and don't use much CC, there are plenty of Maxis plants for you to choose from.

- a hoo- I mean a bubble-blowing bar. These can be combined with a drink bar (coffee or alcohol) or even a nightclub, or can just be the bubble-blowing bar alone. I have a bubble-blowing bar with a small drink bar in the upstairs of a campus building, and a small REALLY indie film club room below. In my "story", there were two children of the 60s who settled down on campus and opened the bubble-blowing bar upstairs, renting the room below to the campus film club. The film room is based on an actual film club room I used to go to from time to time that showed classic films.

Again, thanks to Zarathustra for inspiring the indie film room idea. Things just took off from there.

- An art store. Classes in the back, easels, deco art supplies, paintings.

- An appliance store.

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

The small town I go to university in has 60+ bars and we don't even have a starbucks! so I have a bad habit of making a lot of nightclubs and bars in my uni hoods, with only a few small 'corner shop' style cafés.

I like to have multiple little stores all on 1 lot, like a coffee shop, a small clothing shop and an arcade all on 1 lot like high street. Also a forest place hidden within neighborhood decor trees with just a bench or a few chairs and tables and some dim lights near a lake, for my romantic sims :lovestruc and an old 'castle' community lot for families to visit, because as a kid I loved visiting old castles with my Dad and older sister.
