What Lamare said. Notice how they're labelled with the friend icon despite the relationship score being below 50? That's part of the same deal. I believe the game calls them "contacts", & you sometimes get them after a successful date or outing - a sim you've not previously met will ring you up, introduce themselves, and say something like "since my friend [person from your date or outing] had such a good time with you the other day, I thought I'd see if you wanted to go downtown?". If you accept, you get an outing with your new contact & several other sims; if you decline, the new contact still gets added to the relationship panel with a decent starting relationship, a "friend " indicator & that blue overlay. Like furiousness, the contact state will eventually time out, at which I think you lose the initial relationship boost - unless you take advantage of the boosted period to interact more with them & make a lasting friend!

Cakeninja & Lamare: OK, I was in the wrong here. Thank you both, I did not know I just had a theory.

When I use the Alt Sims Surgery on Simpe, the genetics are changing also or not?

Not - you need to do those manually.

about "blue" overlay on an relationship icon; like another poster told, they are called "contacts".
the Nightlife Prima Guide tells all about them; similar explanation as same poster.
about SimPE's Sim Surgery, at least "skin only" changes sim's genetics. done it somewhat recently.

Anyone have any ideas on what might cause a downtownie to reject makeovers? Tried both gussy up change appearance, and stylist chair. The hairstyle changes, but the makeup and eyebrows refuse to change.

Must be a weird glitch in your game, I've made over some downtownies and never had that problem

I have too, in the past. Very strange. Good idea, I'll try moving her in, and see if changes stick then. Can always make her back into a townie after.

Regular in the sense that the game generated it. Less regular in the sense that I prompted it to generate downtownies via mailbox. Back then I didn't realize it uses the same mold over and over, so I have a whole heap of identical downtownies. One of my Sims is majoring in cosmetology, so I figured I'd have her start a business and make a living making over all the duplicates, but attempt one proved very unsuccessful

Generated with the mailbox? Oh, so that (probably) explains why you have a romance snakeskin jacket downtownie (he's normally knowledge). BTW, there's a mod that makes the game use the normal templates for downtownies instead of some fixed ones.

And as for my question: For those using SImlogical schools, do you let child/teen sims get on the bus for maxis school when you are not playing the teacher's lot? |
The children don't go to maxis school, they catch the bus at 8am and get dropped back at 5pm. The game knows the prep-school hours so long as they are enrolled. They will also have no homework.
Urg sorry AliaD85 only just saw you had replied already.

Oh yeah? I'd say romance is more suitable given his appearance Thank you for the tip, I'll look in to that. Won't fix the existing ones, but could at least make sure any newly generated ones don't give me even more duplicates.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix a household that's stuck on an owned community lot? By that I mean, if I go to community lot, it tells me to load the household. If I go to the household, it tells me to load the community lot. It offers to load community lot for me from the household, if I say yes it does load but playmode is greyed out. I've moved the Sim who owns the lot in with another household, and sold the lot, which hasn't helped.
Normally I'd just move the entire household in somewhere else, replace community lot and home lot and move them back. But they live in an apartment, and while I can restore furniture to what it was I can't replace everything. They have photobooth images from when they were teens, and it would be a shame to lose them if there's some way to save it. I don't think there is, but I figured it's worth a shot to at least ask

But there IS a way to save them! Lili975 wrote a tutorial for that here. What's the problem with the photobooth pics anyway? They dissapear when they move out?

Unless you've used the StayThingsShrub, everything disappears when the last sim moves out in normal residential and apartment lots.

Yes, I know that, but when those pics are put on a sim's inventory and they move out, do the pics glitch out and become blank? Never had that problem, but it supposedly happens.

Awesome Thanks for the link. That should solve my problem, I'll just save the jpgs for the pictures, move them out and back in, then take new ones and replace the new ones with the old photo.
The problem is that I can't put the pictures in inventory velvetina, because I can't access the lot. The Sims are stuck in limbo.

It may be the version you have - not all versions send the kids off lot as though to school and they can still go to regular school.

I didn't know there were versions! I just downloaded it from the Simlogical website.
Update: Figured out what I was doing. I have a school that will be operated on a community lot by a sim who owns the community lot.
But for my Hood's kids to be picked up by a bus, they have to be enrolled in Maxis schools. However, I might have to completely disregard the idea of a bus and just teleport the kids to the teacher's household during school hours.
@Joandsarah77 Uh... I think I was trying to respond to you, Jo, and something wonky happened....

Are there any other households in the apartment? Have them go visit your Sims, and use the apartment building cheats to steal the photos and furniture. Then when you get your family out of limbo you can have them gift it back. I've done this before.

It's the school changer here: http://simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages...Schooltypes.htm
I remember now, I didn't want boarding, flexi or prep - I just wanted regular school. I play schools on owned community lots, not home lots. The kids on home lots go off lot for school hours and have homework. I use a harder grades hack which I've tweaked to prevent them getting really high grades all the time.
