Default Favourite wall hangings?
I'm a really big addict to anything that hangs on the wall. Paintings, mirrors, wall decor... you name it. Recently I've been looking for something a bit more modern, especially pictures. I can't seem to find anything relatively modern, sleek or even basic! Anybody else a big wall hanging addict? What's your favourite decor?

Giving mention to "aristocratic home[s] with heirloom paintings," making decent portraits of your Sims with the easel and then keeping them for the duration of a legacy will have you end up with walls lined with paintings each worth thousands of Simoleans, and much more fitting for a legacy lot than just about anything you can find from the catalog- plus it's a good way to make lots of money passively.

You can get a lot of bang for your buck by having repositoried versions of Maxis paintings. When you download/make a recolor of the painting it's made out of, it will also show up on the new, repositoried mesh. And repositoried items have a much smaller filesize than normal custom content.

"The Lady on Red" and "Pineapple" made into paintings that are leaning against the wall: http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...php?topic=16796
23 Different Maxis paintings made to fit one tile: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=401246
"Grilled Cheese" made bigger, smaller, and tilted: http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...36563#msg636563
"Bella Squared", BV Travel Poster, and various others: http://curiousb.dreamwidth.org/tag/slaved+objects
"Bella Squared", BV Travel Poster, "Geometry 101", and "Route 66" with the "Look Upon the Orient" and "Eleafquant" mirrors as frames http://hafiseazale.tumblr.com/post/...-all-those-that

As for painting recolors, I don't have any recommendations because that's something I've been meaning to look for myself. You could search "painting" here at ModtheSims, at Garden of Shadows, at The Sims Cave, and at Black Pearl Sims. Trapping Crushes is a big archive of stuff from Tumblr, but it stopped updating a few months ago. When you search at ModtheSims, you can look in search options and click "Maxis recolors only" and try to look for paintings that are recolors of the paintings that have repositoried versions.

Also I'd recommend this fix so that you can shift paintings down lower without them getting dim. http://threadandsandpaper.dreamwidth.org/1499.html
And this fix that makes more objects shiftable http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...p?topic=12998.0

Modded easels that give you extra painting sizes, square paintings, landscape paintings, and oval paintings. Anoeska made the originals, but you can get a version that's been fixed to be shiftable here. Also I use the Anyone Can Paint What they Want mod so that sims can paint custom paintings from the Paintings folder without having to have 4 creativity points. BTW some later expansion added the feature that you can click on a painting that a sim has made, and give it a frame. This also works with the modded different size/shape paintings

As far as things in the modern style, I like this triangle mirror. and try looking through Paisley Avenue Redux.

I have all the painting defaults that come in Currantpotpie's The End is Nigh default series A lot of them are modern art, I guess? But a lot of them are kind of gothy or vintage too. I guess just take a look and see if you like them better than the original Maxis paintings.

I've always liked these - mainly, I think, because they are properly original (IYSWIM).

She did three collections eventually.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.
I'm here on tumblr and my site, tflc

You can also make your own paintings, using Sim PE.

I have the knowledge level of a porcupine when it comes to Sim PE, and even I can do it. It takes a bit of trial and error at first, but once you get the hang of it, it takes only minutes.

To create an easel painting, you don't even need Sim PE. You may have to resize it in a graphics program, but many are free. I try to keep mine around 200x300-ish. (I believe Maxis sizing is 156x243.) It doesn't have to be exact, unless a very slight stretch really bothers you, Just don't go too crazy with the dimensions. If you allow for too much of a variation, your art will look strange.

For oval, square and landscape pictures, I refer you to this thread: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=545958

Recently, I've been going on a custom painting spree, marking the ones I might want to use as I'm surfing, One exception: I avoid art that people are trying to sell in real life to make a living. That's a little scuzzy, IMO. Copyrighted stuff could be a little iffy as well.

It took me 10 minutes to find this picture! But here it is, that thing on the wall is my all-time favorite wall decor item ever, I just can't resist using in all houses I play in. There is something about it.
