Default default replacement skintones.. surprisingly difficult to find.
I've been looking through all the downloadable skintones, but what I am looking for does not seem to be there.

What I want is something that replaces the four default human skintones. But it needs to portray those four skintones properly to really replace them.. often the darkest skin seems to be too light for my taste.
I want something that shows more detail of muscles and such, maybe a bit of cleavage for the women. But nothing too shiny with all kinds of light spots.

Perhaps someone has seen something like this on another site? I'd be most gratefull.

I like these and they look better in game. http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...hp?topic=9469.0

This would be better suited for WCIF, but... there are plenty if you know where to look! Which can be admittedly difficult with CC spread around so many sites. The hard part then becomes picking one.

Some nice skins for you to browse:

@viadora: Did you have to post a link to Lilith. My downloads folder already has far to many skin blends and eyes.

To actually stay on topic. I use Cartoon Coverings by Bergatory which are maxis matchy.

This is a a link to Pooklet's dropbox folder containing all their skins. The preview photos were on Pooklet's now defunct dreamwidth account and none of the zips have swatches which kind of sucks.

However Pooklet's Poor Lover defaults are worth testing if you want some detail and s3 and s4 to be dark not vaguely tan.

I don't know if you play MM or semi-realistic, but here are a few semi-realistic ones at least:

I don't know about musculature, but they're not that shiny, I think

You can always check out the default database for more options: http://sims2defaults.dreamwidth.org/

I use defaults of pooklet's skins found here: http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...hp?topic=6841.0
Unfortunately the site seems to be unavailable at the moment. You could check out pooklet's own defaults but, just as the creator of the alternative defaults, I found the difference between S2 and S3 far too great (s2 was a lot lighter than the vanilla one, and s3 a lot darker).

If there's a non-default skintone set that you like, it's very easy to turn them into defaults - I defaulted four of HP's Idolatry and Idolatry Redux skins and then geneticised the rest to sit inbetween the defaulted ones, because I couldn't find any other MM skin sets that I liked as much. You can either download an existing non-referencing default set and replace the textures in SimPE with the ones from the non-default set, or you can follow this tutorial: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=222953

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

Thanks for all the help, I'm still looking through all of it to see which one I'll use!

This website could be helpful, if you haven't already checked it out: http://sims2defaults.dreamwidth.org/
It has a lot of maxis-match as well as semi-realistic skintones. It's where I found my current default skintones and I am really picky with skintones.

Almost the only defaults I use are skin and eyes. For the eyes, I donwloaded someone else's set and swapped in the textures I liked. (That way I got a more complex texture and also I got two browns instead of essentially two blues). For the skins, I use AlfredAskew's from her livejournal. They are Maxis Match with just that much more detail (and are gently anatomically correct so I don't have to be creeped out by smooth breasts).

Throwing in my two scents, I'm partial to these at Disemporium. There are a couple of options for some of the skintones, which is nice, and they provide exactly the "Maxis textures but better" look I prefer.

I promise I'm not as grumpy as my avatar looks.
