Please help, I've had two crashes in the past two days. I reinstalled about a week ago and am playing a new game.
I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure how to do that. I always copy and paste. I've had windows forever and I am now using a mac. Where do I find "Copy To Clipboard"?

Crash Log Analyzer is not supported on Apple operating systems. Normally, you'd run Crash Log Analyzer and then you'd see the button. It compiles a condensed report of crashes and likely causes like you see in most posts in this thread.

If you play The Sims 3 on a Windows computer and are simply posting to this website from a Mac, run Crash Log Analyzer on the Windows computer then click "Export to Text File." Move the text file to the Mac (or just do it from your Windows computer if it has internet access), open it, and copy/paste its contents to your reply.

I was playing the game, it crashed to desktop. I opened the crash log analyzer, it says: " Warning Updates Available: .... " for the last log. I don't get it, what does it mean? The game closed itself because of updates? Game launcher says that my game is up-to-date. Please help, thanks

Warnings mean the specific issue is unknown but here are some things that could help. In your case, one or more parts of your game is out of date (it says which games specifically are).

You can use the þatch Downloader to get the game completely updated. It might take care of the crashes for you.

The launcher only looks at the base game and most recent expansion pack installed. Basically, it lies if you have more than just two The Sims 3 products installed.

Love this tool, and it has been a tremendous help in diagnosing and resolving crash issues. Now, since installing Outdoor Living Stuff and the latest patch, the game crashes within 10 minutes of playing. The Crash Log Analyzer has been telling me I have insufficient memory, and to increase UserVA but I my computer has 3 GB of RAM. I have the 4GB patch, and have done UserVA also.

I'm afraid you're going to have to add another gigabyte of memory (total of 4 GiB). Once your system is up to 4 GiB, increase UserVA to 3072 and that will give The Sims 3 another 512 MiB to play with.

Alternatively, you could try cutting back on the custom content. Every bit of memory counts when you're that close to the limit.

The Sims 3 is getting ridiculous on memory requirements, unfortunately.

Thank you so much for this! It helped a lot, my game was crashing at least once every time I tried to play it (usually within 5 to 10 minutes), when I ran the analyzer, it told me I needed patches for ALL of my EP & SP?? I opened my Sims launcher, and it said EVERYTHING was up to date, I'm confused?? I'm in the process of trying to find patches for everything, but it's a pain in the butt. Isn't the launcher suppose to tell me about these updates??

The launcher only looks at the base game and most recent expansion pack or stuff pack. For example, if you have everything installed, the launcher would only look at the base game and Outdoor Living Stuff. Many people have problems with crashes because they're not getting the updates for the other titles.

The Sims 3 þatch Downloader can help you get the game current.

All those crashes you posted, did they happen after you updated the game? If so, you should delete them all (it's in one of the options on Crash Log Analyzer) and wait for another crash to occur. Hopefully the updates fixed the problems.

I have had several crashes over the past few days. Someone told me to download this program so I did. Here is the .txt file copy of my crashes. I honestly have no idea what to do with this information as far as fixing my game, so any advice/help is appreciated.

ETA: I have 16GB memory but I have not downloaded the 4GB patch. I wasn't sure if I should or not. I am about to just reinstall the whole game fresh and start again, but I don't know if that is necessary. I would like to just fix it if I can.

Everything looks good except only the base game and fast lane stuff is current. If you patch the games in between, the crashes will likely go away. The þatch Downloader will get those updated straight away.

You shouldn't have to do anything with the 4 GiB patch. EA finally made it offiicial a few months ago.

CLA should have notified you that those games weren't current. There must be a bug in it.

The þatch Downloader can tell you the full path to the installed games. It's the last column at the top. If it doesn't find them, there's a good chance it is corrupt or not properly installed.

That looks like graphic tearing which means there is likely something wrong with your graphics card or system memory.

You could try updating your game to 1.19 series but I doubt it will fix it. The þatch Downloader can assist you in gettng the game updated.

Also, I would recommend trying to run the game without any custom content installed.

It would only be temporary to see if custom content is causing the problem.

You could try upgrading the graphics card but updating TS3 and removing custom content are free so I would certainly try that first.

I have what is likely a stupid question but I am unsure of which files to add to the DEP list.

I know that I'm supposed to add the "highest" .exe file, i.e. TS3EP1.exe over TS3.exe, and it says I should eliminate the other files (meaning add TS3EP1.exe and remove TS3.exe from the list) - somewhere I read that you should remove everything from DEP except this file ("highest" .exe) but I've seen some people posting to add the S3Launcher, EADM, etc. I'm having issues with reinstalling my game and only have the base game installed at this moment but I think I remember that the S3Launcher is in each file (including EPs/Sps) and would then be a "higher" version.

My question is - do I need to put anything in the DEP exemption box other than the (i.e.) TS3EP1.exe? Do I need to put the Launcher, EADM, or any other files in there?

Thx!

S3Launcher is a Microsoft .NET application and should never encounter DEP issues. EADM is an Adobe Air application and it also should never encounter DEP issues.

If all you have is The Sims 3 and The Sims 3: World Adventures, then yes, you only need TS3EP01.exe in the list. If you installed Late Night, for example, you'd only need TS3EP03.exe in the list.

Hey Ford, i have already read a lot of other comments but i can't find any comment on how anyone who had a cc crash. So what i'm trying to figure out if the log it gives you, specifically tells you what cc item makes it crash, or which if there is a number of suspicions. If so where in the log can i determine this?

Logs don't really give any clues as to what CC caused a crash because ultimately, the same routines handle all custom content. There's tools out there that can tell you if custom content is corrupt but otherwise, it is basically follows a process of elimination. There's a guide here:

Help please!!

My game used to crash but I fixed the issue with DEP by adding Late Night to the list but the crashing issue came back right after I installed Outdoor Life Stuff and the 7.0 Patch since then it's worst than ever. I added OLS to the DEP list, updated my graphics driver, user Delphy's Dashboard to detect bad CC and everything looks fine there.... sometimes I can play hours and sometimes as soon as I start playing it crashes..!!

I'm trying to make the analyzer log work on Vista but I can't seem to find the right directory and when i play and the game crashes it always says "0 logs processed"
the default log directory is C:\Users\*MyUsername*\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
I tried changing the directory manually to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff\Game\Bin\TS3SP03.exe based on the many comments on this thread but I cannot find the TS3SP03.exe file when I get to Bin.

Can someone please help and give me the step by step instructions for dummys?

Thank you so much!
