Default Can I move The Sims 2 to a different harddrive?
hey there,
Can I just move the game to different hard drive (I'm out of storage on the main one) or change the path or something, or do I have to reinstall it?

You must uninstall and reinstall on the new drive.

I know you can move the location of the My Documents folder, but I think the game itself would have to be fully reinstalled on the other drive to make sure the registry entries are correct.
Oh! Sigs are back, yay!

It's possible if you're using the Ultimate Collection - just move the entire installation folder to where you want it, point Origin to its location and use the repair option.
If you're using discs, you'll probably be better off uninstalling/reinstalling.

Sorry, you can not add yourself to your own ignore list.

https://www.backup-utility.com/arti...rive-3889i.html It is possible, I believe there are other methods too. I think win 10 has move next to uninstall.

you can
as mentioned by @zeka81 - point the \Program Files(x86)\OriginGames\[Sims2 Folder] to a new location if you use a link you do not need even a repair option
Code:
as admin: (move the folder for the new location first!)

mklink /j [original Location] [NewLocation]
e.g.
mklink /j C:\Program FIles (x86)\OriginGames\Sims2UltimateCollection D:\MyNewSims2Folder

this way any time when the system or program calls the access to the original folder it will be redirected to the new location, from Origin's or any other program point of view: nothing changed.
Bear in mind that access through link adds a bit of latency to the IO operations

if you use linking method it does not matter.
