Default I'm Tired of the Sims
For some reason, the Sims 3 has been boring me to death. I was bored for a while, downloaded a shit ton of mods and CC, and... and I'm still bored. I have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, but I have zero motivation to play a family.
For some reason, playing a life simulator is depressing me. My Sims usually end up like me, incredibly unaccomplished and boring. I've tried Legacies, but I still am bored. Just wondering if anyone feels the same, or if anyone can get me back into the game. Or maybe it's time to try out actual games...

You can call me London, Londo, Londonite, or Mitchie :3

Hey, it happens. It might be temporary or it might be for good. I know a few people who played the Sims "once upon a time" and then moved on. I envy them a little because they are actually doing things in their lives and actually living it first hand. They draw or play musical instruments, they write poetry and get together with friends, they dance and go to hiking. It's not bad, really! I would recommend just setting your games aside for while, because you might get a tugging later and want to play them again. In the mean time, enjoy your life!

Addicted to The Sims since 2000.

I get bored of it myself once in a while and work on a story (I write stories for my own personal enjoyment) or play "Crazy Go Nuts" or "Jewel of Atlantis" online.

Been there. I've sometimes got bored of it and gone without sims for 6-9 months. Some of the things I do:
  • Play other games. There are many awesome games out there worth playing, some even more fun/exciting than sims, although I always come back to sims because it has no ending and most other games end.
  • Make game mods and CC. I've made TS2, TS3, GTA, Skyrim, and Fallout NV mods. Sometimes modding can be more fun than playing, especially for the sense of accomplishment after seeing your creation in the game.
  • Troll teh forums. I troll lots of forums, not just MTS. I practically live here when there's a new Sims game, though I still check in once in awhile to see what's new or troll the OT section even if I'm not actively playing it.
  • Spend time and do something fun with the significant other. Or if you don't have one, there's the next thing...
  • Internet pr0n. Well, only consider this if you're of legal age in your country.
  • Other hobbies. I have lots of other hobbies, if you do too, you could try to accomplish something in your other hobbies and troll their forums too.
  • Read the news. There's always a lot of weird, creepy, good, funny, and bad stuff going on out there. I usually like to read the Weird News sections because people can be so weird!
  • Hang out with a friend. If you have a friend or more than one, spend some actual time with them.
  • Go for a walk. My preference is with a friend, but sometimes a solo walk can be enjoyable as well.
  • Go out to some interesting place you heard about, maybe someplace where you can just sit and people-watch.

Good luck!

Well, I think that's your problem then. My sims are nothing like me, or like anything realistic for that matter. My last one was an alcoholic vampire fairy (AGAIN) working as a Ninja, who at one point went "FUCK THIS UNIVERSITY!" and didn't stop until, well, a few dozen NPCs later, she could honestly say "Said and done!"

And I mean the kind where you know it's morning outside when the girl that's been dancing naked on your dance floor puts her police uniform back on and asks you to break up the party. And then all the professors put their clothes on and leave. The kind where, when going back to College for another semester, you find two police cruisers already parked in front of the custom sorority house, waiting for you (Well, ok, so it was glitched cars, but it still made me laugh.)

That and creating a whole town of party nutters. I have the vast majority of lots in Riverwood filled, including a few new ones I placed, each with a custom family of anywhere between 4 and 8 sims. I mean, slightly over half of them are 4-sim families, most of the rest are 8. Well, that and a couple of new discos, bars, and even a winery, because... well, which part of "alcoholic" wasn't clear? Skipping work as the Kage of the local ninja clan to party all night at the Tepes ("the Impaler") family crypt, or spend the night dancing with the local bitches (err, I mean, werewolf girls) at a dive bar, and stuff like that.

You need to kick it up a notch or five. Keep it outrageous.

But, of course, if that's not your thing, maybe you do need to find another game that works for you.

One way I use to keep it interresting is to randomize everything about my sims in CAS when I create them. That way they are totally different from me, and more challenging/fun to play.

I beg your pardon. I haven't messed up anyone's life. My sim was the best and most accomplished ninja the world has never seen

Plus, it's only messed up if you consider stuff like the following to be messed up:

- you're disappointed that the police break up your Friday evening party (honestly, what else are you supposed to do on that night?)... on Monday at 11 AM

- the police shows up because your party is too loud, and actually they just want to be let in and party. Then they send another cop to get the first one, and he wants in too

- the police girl streaking on the dance floor puts her uniform back on to fine you for streaking. (In all fairness, though, she was doing it inside, while my sim was in front of the comic book store.)

- you're best buddies by now with all the cops in the home town, after being arrested so often for spray-painting the police station

- you invite your best buddy, who's a Porn Star (huzzah for NRaas Career) to a party on Friday evening, only to watch him run away for his life on Monday morning, chased by 4 of the sorority girls

- the maid is so busy *ahem* servicing everyone, she won't even put her uniform back on

- you place a fourth keg, so people won't stand in a line to get plastered and do headstands at your parties.

- and for that matter, you place more counters so you have some place for the food too, what with a dozen counters being full with dancing people

- your date has been technically dead for 400 years, but she's great fun at parties and looking good in a miniskirt, so, hey, others may be into everything that's got two legs and a pulse, but you figure that one out of two still ain't bad

- you've had everyone run home from your pool party at noon, because you only invited vampires

- you've had another vomit party, not as much planned, but just because the chef saw some excellent quality plasma fruit in the fridge and made pancakes with them again

- with the sheer number of party guests playing with your sprinklers, you think the whole area is soon going to turn into a swamp

- the professor doesn't come to give a lecture, AGAIN, and you suspect he's still sleeping after your party last night. Well, by "last night" meaning until the police broke it up at 1 PM

- in the middle of a lecture, the professor stops, takes a selfie, then runs off streaking

- you've taught your sim some magic, and end up zapping yourself with a love charm, then go kiss the town hobo... much to the grief of your date

- you end up taking Inapropriate But In A Good Way although you had something else planned for your lifetime satisfaction points, just so other people will stop kicking you out for screwing around at their parties. (So I guess afterwards they were more like, yeah, she's upstairs getting gangbanged, BUT IT'S IN A GOOD WAY)

Etc.

That's not messed up, is it?

We all go through that. My husband and I play a lot of MMORPG's along with The Sims. FOr me, The Sims is the standalone game I go to when I want to get away from it all. Just go with the flow. There are lots of games out there. If you're into MMO's, there's a ton of Free to Play's to download and immerse yourself in. When you get bored, come back to The Sims and see how you feel. I have several Sims games - TS2 and TS3. There's Legacy, Challenges, Play and of course Vanilla for building so I cycle through those between both versions. I recently got back into TS2 with the Ultimate Collection and as long as I just play, I'm good. If I need to build or decorate, that's when I get frustrated specially since I've yet to download a ton and a half of CC and recolours that I used to have for that game. I really with TS2 had CASt

As of this moment, I'm kinda in a sims mood so I play both half heartedly. I need to check into my MMO's since we're in guilds in a few (and running a guild in another) so that's more like work. Plus, I'm currently beta-testing ArcheAge so I'm really into that right now.

Bottom line - if you're bored, go find something that catches your eye and interests you - games, RL, a hobby.. whatever. Just go for it then when the urge comes to play The Sims again, embrace it and enjoy it Whatever you do, have fun !!!

I did this in one of my original Sims2 games with my sim named James Bonde. He had lots of girlfriends who didn't know about each other and lots of kids too. It was a blast

Whenever I'm bored of the game but still want to play it, I always take Dillute the ugly gene Redux challenge. Trying to keep the ugly for as long as possible, it's no fun making pretty sims. Probably says a lot about me though

I've got four legacies and can just switch between them if I get bored with one which is great and sometimes I add new families with mini challenges like having to build their house on the lot or having to manage to mive in a starter home to save up for the housing upgrade.
