That sounds serious but I couldn't tell you why it is doing that. I'm keeping notes though so something might be figured out in the future.

All I can suggest is trying the game with no custom content. If it doesn't crash anymore, one or more of them is to blame. If it still crashes, I would look to upgrading your video card (7300 GS is very weak). If that doesn't help, you'll probably have to wait until they release a patch for Night Life.

so i started getting crashing again, and this is telling me that i have 2 gigs of memory or less, and that it is insufficient? is this program crazy, because the minimum requirement for the late night expansion pack is 1 gig of memory. i have 2 gigs.
i just started getting crashing again when i was loading up a new bridgeport neighborhood and it crashed on the loading screen. i'm going to try again without custom content and i'll report back.

World Adventures isn't current, High-End Loft Stuff isn't current, Ambitions isn't current, and Fast Lane Stuff isn't current.

The "minimum requirements" on all expansions only include The Sims 3 + expansion. You have all expansions and thus, minimum for Late Night isn't enough to cover them all.

This game, with all expansions, really requires 4+ GiB of RAM. With 2 GiB, you're likely to crash sooner or later.

STACK_OVERFLOW is interesting though...

Hi

I have sims3 and WA. Have just removed most of my cc (except some stubborn stuff I can't Find to remove) and applied the latest patch.

My game works ok and loads much faster now but I have had 2 crashes when trying to build.

I am a self-confessed technoweenie and am playing on a barely minimum (suprised it works) 3 year old vaio laptop...but thought I'd post details anyway.

BREAKPOINT? Really odd...

The first thing I would do though is get more RAM installed. 2 GiB isn't enough for Windows and TS3. It might fix the problem and it might not. It is hard to say.

---------------
I do keep getting an 'invalid version file' error when I start crash analyzer so I'm not sure what's up with that.

My game does not get past the town loading screen before it crashes. I had the same problem before I found your LAA fix but since I patched the game it isn't playable anymore and the launcher crashes when I start the game (the game still runs).

The invalid version file error means you need to download a fresh copy of CLA (download tab). The version file is used to get the "Games Installed" which as you can see, is missing.

The crash is definitely due to not enough RAM. Unfortunately, the only way you are going to be able to fix those crashes is if you reduce the memory profile (remove custom content) and/or upgrade to a 64-bit OS and add another 2 GiB of RAM. You have hit the 32-bit wall.

Just a heads up, World Adventures could use an update. Download and install this:
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownload...9001_Update.exe

The real heart of the problem appears to be not having enough RAM/large address aware. If you can, I would try upgrading to 4 GiB and I hope that would fix it. You might have to upgrade to Windows 64-bit though and get more than 4 GiB installed (in other words, a new computer).

You could always try removing custom content to reduce the memory profile of the game.

The only thing I can suggest for both of you to try is removing all the custom content. This latest round of patches made a lot of changes which upset a lot of mods. Other than the custom content, nothing really stands out.

@crinict: Nothing really stands out in those as being the cause.

@MetalShopGurl: It appears you are missing a lot of updates. Might I suggest running the þatch Downloader to get them updated?

The "Insufficient Memory" notices appear to be false positives (I changed that code recently and there must be some bugs in it).

Otherwise, 0x00000000 is a common error with Late Night. You might have to wait for the next round of patches if updating the in-between versions doesn't fix it for you.

The crashes seem to happen randomly. Played for 3 hours yesterday without a single crash and right now can't get the game to stay on for more than 15 minutes, I didn't even put any new custom content in since then.

@FordGT90Concept: As I wrote, they both narrowed down the cause (cc and ingame store). I though that might be of interest to you.

I'd say it is very likely to be cause by bad/incompatible custom content. Try removing all custom content and adding it back as stability allows.

I'd say most of the crashes that aren't detected by CLA are probably related to custom content. I wish EA made it easier to detect custom content by adding validation routines instead of simply crashing. Then they keep chaning so much stuff in the base game which causes waves of incompatibilities.

The known custom content crashes are all over the place. It is tempting to replace the "UNKNOWN" message with "CC CRASH." Maybe I should? XD

Ford, can you please try to figure out what I need to do to fix this problem? Whenever I try to load The Sims 3 it just barely gets to the loading screen and shuts off without any popup errors. I've tried to reinstall it many times with no errors during installing or updating. Here is the log (i keep getting the same error code, by the way):

Maybe try removing all custom content first.

You could try is moving The Sims 3 directory in My Documents to another folder and see if the game will start then. If it does, something is corrupt in your user settings.

If not, maybe G33/G31 is no longer supported in patch 1.17.

Exactly.

I think I will do that when I get free time.

Removing all of the custom content worked. But the program didn't detect anything corrupt. How can I find out which file was causing it? Thanks!

If that doesn't help fix it, all I can say is that an MSVCR80.dll crash is odd. It may suggest instability in the computer but I'm not really certain. Have you ever experieinced random crashes to the desktop in other games or has your computer randomly restarted itself?

Just thought I'd let you know that my motherboard died shortly I reported the crash. The crash just happened to be the first symptom other than the USB ports occasionally not working. After that, the video card failed, followed by one hard drive not being detected after a restart (but the video card worked that time) then it wouldn't start at all. I remembered what you said about instability, and ended up putting all the weirdness together and after several tests to rule out bad RAM, hard drive, etc., I determined it was the motherboard.

I got a new motherboard, processor, RAM and finally got Windows 7, so I guess it wasn't all bad in the end. So, yeah, you were right about the instability.
