This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Game crashes before reaching neighborhood chooser
Like the title says: I have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, and it crashes before it even finishes the initial loading. I've exhausted all my options, and even gone so far as to completely uninstall and reinstall the game. It crashes at the same point every time- when a little over half of the loading bar is filled. I've noticed that the Sims 2 intro and EA's little icon scene do not load beforehand, either.

Because of this, I assume it must be something wrong with my computer. I'd just like some help in figuring out what exactly it might be.

The game was working completely only a few minutes before this started. I was in a Skype call with a friend and sharing screens so we could sort of play together. We made a couple of characters, and then we decided we wanted a mod to give a sim one blind eye. The mod we chose was pretty benign- it just added a mesh under the glasses category that covered one eye and gave it a filmed over look.

That's the mod- or at least, the recolor. It links the original mod, which we also grabbed.

Once we unpacked the mods and added them to the Downloads folder, we started the game again- no intro, and then it crashed. We quit the call so my friend could take a shower while I tried to fix the problem.

I figured that somehow this little mod had conflicted with something, so I went ahead and removed it, but... It crashed again. So I removed my whole CC folder. Continued crashing. Removed all my user files. Same crashes kept happening. I restarted the computer, reinstalled the game, and pretty much did everything I could. You probably get the idea.

I checked on the wiki, but I couldn't find what I needed- I realize that I can sometimes be pretty bad at navigating wikis, so I may have missed something. If so, please do link me! I think I have the needed system specs here, too, but I'm not great with computers and mostly just copied that stuff from my computer's info. Lemme know if I missed something important!

@Mikomikokoro sorry you've havin difficulties. I can totally relate as I also had some UC troubles. Check out the here and see if my experience isn't helpful to you. May or may not be the same problem, but the cc item may have corrupted your download.

Do you have any cc lurking in your Saved Sims folder? if so remove that.

Did you try renaming the Sims 2 folder eg The Sims 2 Crash' and letting the game make a new one.

Did you try going into Origin, right clicking and see if heal or fix is an option.

Did you delete your cache files?

@CaliBrat
Thank you, I'll check it out!

@joandsarah77
Yes, I've done all of that. The user files are completely fresh and newly-generated, so there are no cache files or Saved Sims. Having Origin 'repair' the game also did nothing, sadly. Thank you for your help, though!
