There are only 2 pictures that I could find for this house and there in the Storytelling folder and that is what I used to make this house.

I'm using a 24" wide screen and Fraps squeezes it to look like a reg. square screen..

I think they made the screen shots in the Sims 2 Beta game and not the shipped game.

I like the living room. It looks really close but the telescope in Maxis' picture is the expensive one. So I suggest you should replace the cheap telescope with the expensive one.

What you've done looks really good for the comparisons, however there's stuff outside of them that I would change. Firstly, I would swap the front door and internal staircase for modern styled ones to fit with the windows. Another thing that strikes me is how cavernous it feels inside. It seems like there is a lot of wasted space, so I would maybe look to divide up the space that isn't seen in the comparison/Maxis shots more, especially the big empty space upstairs. I could certainly suggest a new floor plan for the upstairs to get rid of that wasted space if you like?

...but, the rest of the house? Not at all what I see (based on the two given snapshots.) Do you have any other information about this family? Where did you get their names, etc? It looks like a family of 9, with more on the way. I'm not seeing enough beds, or toddler furnishings - cribs, changing tables, etc...

I think you've got your work cut out for you if you want to make this into a viable house. Good Luck!

@Jawusa I had to take a break from all Sims for a while and forgot about this. I will go work on it some more.

@CatherineTCJD That is the Curious brothers and sister Jenny Smith (Curious) with there parents Glarn and Kitty Curious. Yes the house was suppose to be for more sims but Glabe Curious ran off with Glarn 2 alien babies right after they were born or that is how EA has it set up. (Chloe and Lola Singles.) Also we don't really know if Glarn and Glabe were married or not or even there family ties in all this for EA did not give us that info.
As for making it a viable house I am just trying to get it to were it is in the 2nd pic first and then go and take most if not all the up stairs furniture out from the 2nd floor for upload for my The Beginning of Strangetown hood. There are 2 more pics but to me it seems like a different house and it is of Glabe and Glarn just as Glarn in having the twins Chloe and Lola and the 2nd pic is of Glabe either lecturing or teaching the 2 girls in a different house. This is all the pics of this family in there houses that EA gave us.

Ok this is another take on the house, I change out the front door and took out 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and now it is down to 3 bedrooms and 2 and a half bath.

I hate fraps for it does not look this way ingame. For some reason fraps squeezed up the house.

I think, that house would look better with a flat roof.

I have tried the Print Screen way but it has never worked for me, it always takes a screen shot of my desk top and not the game.
It say to get a active screen shot to use Alt. Print Screen and it still gets the desk top and not the game.

Have you tried running TS2 in windowed mode? Maybe, it will work then.

As for the house, it looks better now with a flat roof. Could you also add awnings at the entrance door?

ETA: Oh, awnings came with OFB so you can't do that with just the base game... But I think it would look better if you would add a 3x2 roof above the door. Then, it would look like awnings.

I was thinking that to and will do for the next update, other than a awning like thing is there any thing else this house needs before I upload it.

Let me think, maybe dirt terrain paint under the scrubs. This house does not have any trees. Maybe bamboo trees or a big willow tree would look good. The Curiouses live in a desert, so you may want to add cactus trees.

ETA: It's not related to your lot but who's Glabe? Is she Glarn's sister?

@Jawusa we don't know for EA did not give us that info.

1. She was his first wife, in the first pic it shows she has a wedding ring.

I should put up here that I have read ever single sim bio from ever EA shipped hood and I used all that info to make my Beginning Hoods with.

If she has a wedding ring, then I'd say Glabe was Glarn's first wife. Do the deceased sims have bios?

Marka, if you go into the game options and swap the one which says "Use square pixels" to ON, that will fix your screenshot problem. It's not FRAPS, it's the game.

Unless there is something else that needs to be change I think it is ready. Only added the overhang in the front and the trees.

ADD: I have done a complete redo of this house and put all bedrooms on the 2nd floor.

Let me know which one is better for upload.

There are two missing tiles underneath the stair. Grass can be seen there. I think it would look better if you would cover those two tiles.

I don't see anything else which needs to be changed beside that.

No its not for I can not figure out how to change the lot view, in hood view it shows desert but in house view its still lush.

Iv'e picked it up and put it back down with no luck and I don't understand how to do it from the other post.

You can try it by replacing the terrain paint records. Create a new lot with the same size on a lush or desert terrain and save that lot. Exit the game and extract the terrain paint records and replace it with the new ones. Back-up your current lot before doing this.

I tried to remove all files 0x5CC0 and above and I deleted all 0x5CC0 files from the old lot and replace with the new lot texture but when I go back into game and pick up lot and place it back down there is no change it still has lush and not desert.

Am I missing something here. Do I need to delete all the files in the new lot including 0x3B76 or what.

Just went and read the whole thread and that not what I need, when you make a lot in lush terrain the house has the standard green lawn and when I put the lot in the bin and place the lot in a desert terrain the lot still has the standard green lawn and not the standard desert lawn.

If it's not working for you, then, you'll have to replace 0x3B76 as well.
