It's a step in the right direction, too bad it took them a year to roll it out. I doubt this is going to attract much of a new crowd to the game especially after all the bad press that the game has had twelve months to accumulate. But at least the people who shelled out for it already have some good news.

Ahh, the woes of DRM!
I know that Steam lets you play games offline with the client in offline mode as long as you've already downloaded and launched the game once. Presumably Origin has something similar?
(Granted, that's completely useless if you have DLC and SimCity does the same thing that Mass Effect 3 does - you can launch the game offline fine, but the game then phones home to 'verify' the DLC and if it can't find a connection, it won't load the DLC. Making 'offline mode' useless. But, I don't have the new SC so I have no idea if it does that.)
