Default Mods with Steam version?
How does this work? Where would I put them?

If the game doesn't generate the documents folder in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, go to your Steam install folder and look under userdata/[profile id]/[game id]/local.
Or save yourself a headache and ask Origin support if they can add your TS3 games to an Origin account and go from there.

It shouldn't be any problem. (I have the Steam version and run plenty of mods.)
