This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Could not get the game working at all on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M Graphics card.
I am running a problem on a faster Graphics card. I was able to run it on Intel HD 4000 but it was slower. I want to use the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M, but It won't let me to because of an error called, "Direct3d returned an error E_INVALIDARG! The application will now terminate.". Is there someone here to help me? I am on Windows 8.1 with the latest version of the graphics card and have the Ultimate Collection on Orgin. It does not have an Compatibility tab on the .exe. I tried to used the Compatibility troubleshoot and I could still not get it to work. It happens on both full screen and window, and tried to run as an administrator.

You may be able to run your game after you add your card to the "Video Cards.sgr"

This is how mind looks like card 0x11c0 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660" you must find out what your number is for mind is 0x11c0 and you need your number in its place.

I put my card along with the device ID somewhere in this file and I still could't get it to work, I don't know where I can place it.

Mine is 0x13D8

It founded on the database now. But it is still not working. Intel HD Graphics 4600 is still not found in the database but it worked.

This method does not work and I have tried it before. This actually applies to Sims 3.

Yes its for Sims 3 but the same goes for Sims 2 and other players have used this to get there Sims 2 game running on the 2nd card.

Since you have tried it before with no luck then I have no more ideas on how to help you.

Go down below step 4 and see if that will help http://leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446

Nope, Did not work as well.

Now what am I going to do? This problem is still unsolved at all. I want an patch to fix it. I wish to contact EA or NVIDIA to fix this, But EA does not support this game anymore so I am S**t out of luck from now, but I don't know how NVIDIA will help me fix this problem.

You say it does not have a Compatibility tab on the exe-file. What about on the shortcut? Sometimes that works (at least on Win7 it does).
I would also Google the exact error message, chances are someone have had it before on a different game.

If you have UC then yes EA does support it but if you have the stand alone CD's/DVD's then no.

EA drop all support for the stand alone games and put out the UC which they still support.

If you have followed both those ways of getting Sims 2 to use the Nvidia card and it still does not work then it could be a hardware problem and the maker of your laptop is the one you want to contact for this problem.

I am thinking you may have bypass 1 or more steps and is the reason it wont work for you.

Also Windows 8 protects its self and you need to follow the direction on this page to turn off UAC and maybe the other parts to. http://www.simbology.com/smf/index.php?topic=8984.0

Quote:
To get mods to work in 8/8.1 some players need to turn off "User Account Control" and change both the programs folder and My Doc. folder for the UC to read and write other wise the OP system will stop mods from working.

1. Disconnect from the internet then turn off "User Account Control". *(Or UAC.)
2. Restart your computer.
3. Check after restart that UAC is turned off.
4. Change Program folder for UC to read and write.
5. Some times it takes a restart for this to take effect.
6. Change My Doc. for UC to read and write.
7. Some times it takes a restart for this to take effect.
8. Now try your mods and if they work then restart your computer.
9. Check again that mods are working, if so then turn back on UAC.

Yes I know it says for mods but it may help you to.

I think if you download and install an updated version of Microsoft net framework, it may fix it. It's a windows problem. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/837522

You have to make the Nvidia card play the game and its not EA's fault that you can not get your computer to play Sims 2 UC for there are a lot of players that have done what was told to you to do and there game is working.

Sorry that you don't know how to do it and maybe the people over at Lee Fish can help but maybe not. Your best bet if to try and explain over at http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 your problem and maybe they can help you.

Well over 100 players have been able to get the dual card setup to work and your the only one I know of who can not do it. Sorry but there may not be any help for you.

I have another method. When I disabled an intel graphics card, the game will run on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M, but it run horrible with the purple ground and it's shuttering. Maybe the can't run both graphics card at the same time. How can I fix that.
