Hello all,

I am just curious if anyone know about someone trying to alter the houseboat-sizes or did some mods that could make a nicer bows or make "shells"(fake houseboats that "fit" over a specified lotsize boat (like A statue or something that would be one tile, with a mesh of a free 3d yacht/boat)?
I would LOVE to be able to make bigger ships or yachts and I can not believe i would be alone in this.

I have tons of ideas on how to do it, but I have never modded myself.
and I am just curious if anyone ever attempted that?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for. It doesn't actually change the houseboat's lot size, but since you mentioned shells, here are some shell decos for houseboats (one of them makes the boat look like a yatch): http://lunasimslulamai.jimdo.com/es.../estructuras-2/
I'm not very good at using them, but I've seen people do amazing artworks with them

I have downloaded the set from Luna but I do not like it that much, it is boat themed, but I would like to see something like this.



Of course it does not have that much detail, but at least a hull that would "fit" over a houseboat hull so all you need to do is build the upperstructure and or Hull where your sim can live.
I would not mind if it were a bow and Stern and if it is visible in townfiew to your world can rock!

The thing i would like to be able to do is what I could do Before Island Paradise.. To build on the water! It would have been so awesome if I could be able to actually sail my 63 tile yacht...

I now have it as a simple extra home for my sim...

I don't know if anyone's done a more modern shell, maybe Carlos sims, (http://simminginmagnificentstyle.blogspot.com/) But the theroy is there so you might be able to poke around and figure out how they work.

I have seen those and they are nice, however I am looking for more "modern" ship hulls, I have found some for free but I have never modded or build CC before so I have no idea on how to use them.
My idea is to have a "hull"to go over the houseboats to make the yacht and ships look more real,the way they are now bugs me greatly ;-)
I was hoping to be able to build ships like these:



all we need is the hull-part, the superstructure we can build ourselves to make more variety. for the bigger ships it could even be a hull that "sits"on top of the first floor.

Making an object isn't hard, there's lots of tutorials for tables and such, I haven't tried a boat hull yet though so no clue if it's similar. I think I'll do some poking around and see what I'm looking at.

I have those installed in game, they are nice but have some flaws (I love the steamship but it is missing the bow-deck (portholes are visible from above)
and then there is the size.. they are way to huge to be usable for yachts (the steamship is over 70 tiles long, while we have at the biggest a 20 tile houseboat.
I would prefer they fit the houseboats more tightly to make it look real enough
Also the items like the chimney Carlos uses, are not placeable on the decks themselves, which would make them easier to use.
they are fiddly.
I was thinking that we basicly have 2 worthy ship-hulls, the narrow barge 20x6 and the curved bow narrow 14x6
these would be perfect for the superstructures of the ships.

Well, I'm still very new to CC creation, so I make no promises, but, the funnel should be very doable. I'm currently in the process of testing one of the hulls, I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I ran into a few hiccups with Wings 3D eating my final version of the mesh, and the multiplier is a nightmare to fix, but it is showing in game and looks pretty good on the 14x6 curved bow. It looks rather odd at the dock, but anything that extends the stern will cause that. Here's some screenshots of my test sims showing it off.
(Also, as this is no longer really a WCIF, we should probably move this to either PM or the creator forums.)

Ha, I was just coming back to update Well, I've pretty much given up on the multiplier, which means it still has that almost unshaded look. I tweaked the mesh some, got rid of the flag and the portholes and overall shortened it some. I can't make it much shorter or the houseboat hull sticks out. It is recolorable in one piece, metal textures look best on it. I don't think there's much more I can do for it so anyone who wants to use it, package is attached below.

I have seen the titanic tread, however he does not make it sailable, What I was looking for is a houseboat-item like Nilaba made that covers the hull of a regular houseboat to actually make a real looking ship.

Well as promised, here is the yacht my sim now owns.

The hull works well, however I wish it would be possible to have more channels to recolour (decks, dekgear and screws/anchors would be awesome)

would that be a possibility?
it is however awesome and I do not want to sound ungrateful for your hard work, this rocks!
