Cruise the mods here and elsewhere, such as Nraas and see what appeals to you.

You know, there is also a sticky thread where many people posted about what mods to download, just at the top of the Sims 3 discussion page.
And jje1000 shared a very detailed pdf with many different mods and their functionalities in that thread.

Maybe browse through this thread and then, like sweetdevil said, if you're looking for something specific, we'll be able to give you some directions.
