I've gave him knowledge as main aspiration and wealth as secondary (later changed to wealth as main and knowledge as secondary too), spent a lot of time cycling and rolling through lifetime wants via batbox and he never got that want. |
I would love a mod that did it as well, would make it so much easier to have the LTW that you want.
I think that this is not updated for Free Time and there could be problems if the sim has a Secondary Aspiration, but since I don't have Free Time not a concern for me, so I use The Sim Modder {available by Spawning or if you get the Buyable version by Numenor}, I use the Buyable version. One can Roll for a LTW according to their Aspiration, works wonderfully for me.
If you didn't find the LTW that you were looking for on the Batbox makes me think you might have a Mod from MATY that changes how a LTW is rolled. You should check for such a thing, because if you are patient that LTW would come up if you kept rolling long enough. Maybe you could try rolling the LTWs with another Mod?
for info on changing the Mac Open File Limit check out my post here http://www.insimenator.org/index.ph...html#msg1628939

The mod that does that is ltwvariety by Pescado. It restricts what LTWs are available by aspiration, interests and personality.

I would love a default replacement that changes the Chinese Food (which sims can order for delivery) to Japanese Food. Something that only changes the text, with the delivered food itself staying the same, would work just fine for my purposes.
A default replacement that changes the Chinese Food into Sushi - with a change of text and object meshes - would be even better, though! :-)

Hack that alters Sims not taking a taxi when moving to a different apartment unit of the same lot. The replacement could be the formal tenant leaving for-sale unit with a suitcase, before the playable Sim moves in to said unit and disappear. After that, a notification will inform the player to reload the lot and select said family to play.
This does not much explaining. Pretty awkward seeing a household member or full having to take a taxi to take off and return back, just so they dedice to live across the door in the same lot.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

That would be understandable. I mean, fortune cookies used to be associated with Japanese restaurants.

Reason: again, forgot which thread I was in

Wow, that caught my attention, so I went to Google. According to various sources, the most credible of which is the New York Times, Chinese restaurants in the US serve them because it was originally Chinese proprietors who skillfully marketed and thus popularized an Americanized version...but they were, indeed, invented in Japan, and Japanese shops still sell their version.
(Thank you, JDacapo, for helping me learn something new today that was totally unrelated to simming!)
Edited to add all below because I had forgotten again which thread I was in...
Appreciate the instructions, gE. Yes, that looks doable, though it's not a pretty interface to wade through at all, is it? And it would definitely solve Anhaeyn's problem, if they just need a specific LTW for a specific sim.
There is another, much less heard-of mod that changes available LTWs based on sim characteristics, but it does it differently from Pescado's. It's by Alexx58. Since not many have heard of it, it's not likely to be the forgotten problem in Anhaeyn's folder. Seemed worth mentioning anyway, just in case; I quite like it and use his last-released version over Pescado's. You just have to get past the hard-to-read description the modder wrote for it.
That "LTW_enb_XP_Reduced.rar" version (which the modder only describes a little in the download's comments, argh) makes LTWs available based on Freetime enthusiasm levels and types, as well as on skill levels, so as those change throughout a sim's lifetime, different LTWs can be accessed, or can no longer be accessed. It also *adds* some reduced-count LTWs (2 pet best friends, for example), but the original Maxis ones are still there as well, so you get the choice. For example, I like some slackers to get an Earn $50,000 want, because it takes them just as long to achieve it as Earn $100,000 does for more highly motivated sims.
*Ongoing TS2 informational projects (come on by to contribute, get info, or spectate!): (1) the SimPE Preservation Project and (2) Conflict Tracking for the 3t2 Traits Project Mods

Thanks for that info, natboopsie, I hadn't considered that mod before, but it sounds good. I struggle with Pescado's mod information, and try to use as few of them as I can. Perhaps I can now ditch ltwvariety!

It appears that Alexx58 never got Apartment Life, so the mod will probably not have LTWs for the AL careers. I'm not sure whether Pescado's mod does either - the readme only mentions FT.

oh, shoot... let me go look. I think it has servo in the title.

go waaaay down. They are simslice-ts-npcanytime....followed by the costume they wear like cop, or burglar, or maid. They work great. You buy them and they look like deactivated servos. When you activate them, they become real people. You can change them into any outfits you want, just like a real person. They can marry and have children, as well. They do age and die unless you turn off aging. It would be perfect for a story about a servo wanting to be alive.
It appears simslice might be back up. There's a lot of stuff I've never seen. Does anyone know whether this site is active again, or not? I might have to shop.

For some odd reason your post does not include anything past "I think it has servo in the title." when I view it, but when I choose to Reply I see the rest of the post.
Where do they appear in the Buy Catalog?

It may be because some idiot submitted the first part and then had to go back and edit to include the link.
The servos appear in the electrical part of the catalog. They look like deactivated servos. I think they are 6000 simoleons. There are three more that appear in the hobby catalog. I think because they updated with bon voyage. Same look, same price.
EDIT: Investigated into simslice. They are still a ghost site. Don't sign up for them and give them access to your bank account. You won't get the money back. It goes into a cyber hole.
I think the booty has everything they made since all they made was pay stuff. If you can't recognize what you are looking for by name, look under wintermural guest artist. If no help there, or it's too much work, contact me. As they were going under I tried to get everything they had.

Actually, the booty has nearly everything they had, but one item-a 'portal' that functioned as a summoner. It was part of the star trek set but never got uploaded to the booty. I'm sad. I would have loved to have that item..

I always appreciate your willingness to check stuff out thoroughly, @RoxEllen1965 ...though in this case, are you sure there were any AL careers? As far as I know, FT was the last EP that added any new careers or LTWs, and so it shouldn't be any problem to use LTW-affecting mods last updated for FT. Do you know differently?

I could have sworn there were AL careers, but apparently I mis-remembered that. It has been a long time and I guess I'm starting to forget which content came with which pack. According to this list, some of the careers that I thought were from AL were actually from FT so either mod should be OK whether or not you have AL.

I think by the AL came out EA was counting the days until the unveiling of Sims 3. A lot of it seems phoned in. I would have been surprised if they had bothered to craft a career for it.

Appreciate you confirming, RoxEllen. I certainly understand and relate---it really is a wonder (and a testament to how much we love the game) that any of us keep as much detail about it in our heads as we do!

Add tamagotchis, pagers, and 'Blackberry' type devices to the electronics kiosk. Tamagotchis or other virtual pets can be auto-cared for and can possibly increase fun and social. The pagers and blackberry devices can help instantly contact people the sims know and can give them alerts when the person responds. Great way to contact someone after hours.

It's called "The Guardian of Forever (just like in the series)
Actually, I don't think it was a summoner-but a interesting object to have in the game. Too bad one can't download & hack it to be one, though..

Wow! I remember that from the Star Trek episode. But, I've never seen it. I must have gotten the star trek stuff from the booty. It's worth doing a WCIF, though, don't you think? It would be cool to have.

I want a picnic basket, like we had in TS1. If you remember, you'd go to the Rental Shack, where Rental Shack Jack would rent you a fishing pole, an RC boat, some fish food, or a picnic basket. Two sims (or possibly more, i'm not sure) would spread out the blanket. They could relax and talk to each other. They could eat lunch from the picnic basket. They could put suntan lotion on each other, and they could make out.
I'd like sims to be able to pack a picnic basket. It could be +nature. The interactions were great, and i'm sure they'd be awesome for TS2, especially since sims can now tan and/or burn. Slathering each other in lotion could (and should) reduce the burn risk. And the romantic interactions would be fun.
Also, if those romantic interactions existed, perhaps we could bring back the bearskin rugs, which also had a "toast" option, if memory serves me. Now there's a bit of TS1 nostalgia that I've always wanted for TS2.

I'm still regularly surprised that those picnic tables with attached benches aren't in Sims 2. It's really odd that they never returned.
